A Prayer to Slumber

Oh wondrous heavens, shine your light,
Upon this weary mind tonight;
Take heavy heart, and set it free,
To soar with angels, gracefully.

Hold safely in your gentle arms,
My loved ones, comfort them from harm;
Protect these souls with tender care,
That they may feel your presence near.

Light up mine eyes, that I might see,
The treasured gifts bestowed by Thee;
Remind me of the beauty found,
Within the hearts of men abound.

Cast out the fear and doubt within,
And cleanse this soul from mortal sin;
Release the burdens of this day,
To wash these worried cares away.

While slumber slowly begs release,
Enfold this soul with tender peace;
Renew my strength, that I might show,
Thy warmth and love I've come to know.

Surrender now, to sleep I drift,
This lightened heart, awaits your gift;
That I might wake another day,
With loved ones by my side, I pray.

/Kit McCallum

Lovely thoughts and wishes, and yes, nothing more comforting than knowing those you love are safe. This gave me a beautiful peaceful feeling. Thank you!

What a wonderful prayer and as any good prayer should be....you have taken it from the heart.

Such a beautiful prayer must be music to His ears. Thank you for sharing this with us!

and I'm sure God will like it too.
