Standing at the edge
of the brown field of corn,
just bitten by the frost,
orange, red and yellow leaves
were making their way to the ground;
piling up along the edge
of the well worn path.
The sunlight was blinding against
the deep turquoise sky;
beyond the field, a halo of clouds
surrounded the mountain tops,
while at the base stood a herd deer
grazing on old cobs,
their innocent eyes cautiously watching me.
As I lifted my camera, they bolted,
gracefully leaping into the
protection of the trees
that filled the hillside.
I just stood in awe,
believing there is nothing better
than walking along a little path
on a crisp country morning,
knowing I'd just captured
a real Kodak moment.

My goodness Bonnie, what inspiration you got from that! LOL  I have to say I sat and pondered on what you could possibly be thanking me for.

You've described the beauty just perfectly
Painted another AWESOME picture with those poetic words of yours!

Bonnie - Superb prose.  It brings to mind a similar event in my life, in which a mother cat was leading her kittens across the artillery range... well, that's another story - heh heh

SEA - Thanks for reading and for your kind reply.
Awwww Marcy - Thanks so much.
Becky - Thanks, for your "awesome" and for providing the inspiration.
LngJhn - Thanks for reading, glad it brought a memory back....I do believe my hubby remembered something too...I think it was the gleam in his eye and the way he jumped up and started cleaning the shotgun....poor little deer......

Thanks so much all, I truly do appreciate your kind replies.  Bonnie
