Of pride and preeminence

Agog were the ogling noggins
Making chit-lins of their skin
Acting like some popcorn poppen
I, as insane, joining in.

Rooting, screaming, raising claims
Parents encouraging their heirs.
Biased sires, in wild acclaim
Overcome with the do of theirs.

The score was forty, forty
The last throw, the last at bat.
The pitcher a kid named shorty
Licked his fingers and turned his hat.

Scout the crowd, he had no doubt
The ball flung, the bat was swung
The shout was sharp, the ump called out
The crowd was stung, I blew a lung.

My son was number one that day
And I, second best you could say.

The score was 40 to 40? A real pitcher's duel! Your kid must have been the only one to strike out that day, Sy!! Bummer..

I always enjoy your humorous side, good sir
