Slipping away.......

I sincerely wish they were here with me..
all the women I lost through my stupidity.
Not all at once it would cause a traffic jam
and only the one's that could understand
how fully I regret my inability to fulfil their desires
to meet the specifications that a womans heart hopes to acquire
I feel like such a failure in every way
just as surely as so many lost opportunities have passed my way
and now comes the realization how much happier I would remain today
if I had not let all those precious women just slip away.

Hey! Hey! Hey!  A piece for all men!  But you can't hold them all forever...but isn't it grand to meet and love them all, to hold them in memory!

How refreshing to FINALLY meet a man who realizes that he has let love slip away. Although women do this too. You are a tender sensitive man...any woman would be proud to stand beside you James

James, your candor is admirable. So often regret can overwhelm a heart. We must look to the future, my friend. (((you)))

jmlee,
It seems I have a cliche for every occasion. And the one I have here is "it's better to have love and lost than to never have loved at all."  I also echo jwesley's comments. He couldn't have said it better.

Written from a tender caring heart. But, you know, they may have slipped away for a reason that you just don't know yet. Man, who am I to give advice, I can't even take my own! lol This was well written, from the heart. All who have passed your way are the better for knowing you.

You sincerely wish they were all there with you?  Together?  All at one time? --you are braver than I, my friend...this very thing happened to me once...and not to spoil the sentiment of this poignant piece of work---but looking at all of them, all I could think was OMIGOD--what WAS I THINKING?--lol--couldn't get out of there fast enough!!!  But certainly you have much more sense than I.  Beautifully expressed.

im so sorry to read this..we must keep in mind that perhaps..just perhaps things happen for a reason...though your plight is great, perhaps that special lady is coming soon so that you may not be filled with sorrow anymore...beautiful poem..very down to earth...i wish you luck, stay strong james.

thanks JWesley, Paula, Claire, Garfield, Tony, Jenn, serenity, and eva for the wonderful comments...
Serenity yes I would like to line them all up and have a kissing contest and see which one was the best kisser...unfortunately they would probably all bring their new boyfriends and husbands and they probably wouldn't appreciate that idea so I have to accept the fact that I let them slip away and they are gone but not forgotten...James

You've made me smile this morning James! Now, if you were able to have kept all of these lovely ladies ... what a harem you would have! I hope you will find the one true woman you wish to share your love with, who will remind you that all these others were merely "practice" for her alone ...    Nicely penned James, I enjoyed this a lot!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Good thought Kit..really good thought...
Sea I am eagerly anticipating whats around those corners...
I do have a few in mind already...wondering if I am I in their thoughts...one says I am...if only I can believe her...if only she is telling me the truth...James

and so the truth is spoken
and so does the truth hurt while alone with your mind, but look at what great poetry it produces, good work friend

James, this is great. I know the feeling. I still love almost all of my exes. And think how I could have done things differently. But hey, maybe it was their fault, now that I see this poem...
Loved it.

As the saying goes learn from your mistakes lets call it experience and move on, and make it a now you know, so then you can have a lady that will admire and be beguiled by your skills. Though you are a man, and men tend to do these things, I have to admit sometimes we women make errors too.( SELDOM THOUGH)

James seems as if you and I have pretty much the same thoughts at times and the "If's" in our lives can haunt especially when we learn later how we could have avoided them.  The ones that matter that we wish we could get back.
