Quinella's Dream - The Confrontation [Part IX]

[Story Parts I - VIII: Quinella dreamt of a Knight, sharing the vision with her mother. She goes to Wizard Nor for a dreaming potion. Under its spell, Quinella's dream becomes nightmarish, which Nor recognizes, and acknowledges that Konrad will be his enemy, foretelling his arrival. Konrad comes, searching for a vision inspired by dreams. Quinella and Konrad meet; Nor states to himself his love to Quinella, and swears he will rid Konrad.]

'Ho Quinella, thee art unharmed!
and what outlandish adolescent
complicates the sure trek
to your hearth?'

'Wizard! From whatever cold place
did thee come from?
Please, do meet,
Sir, a good Knight,
who comes from afar…'

'Sire, I bid you, good day.'

'Strange youth! Ere I bid
thee a good day, perchance
you be of breed
enough to give thy name ~
mayhap I have heard of
you, and
may be,
you
are an undesired character,
and not wanted in
our fair land!'

'Dear (froggy) Wizard, thy tongue
spews forth pungently,

I would welcome Kind
Knight, for he has done
no wrong…'

'Quinella, my love, do not beggar
me, your elder, with fantastical
discord, you know naught
who this adolescent might be,
and I would hazard he
should gerrymander to you, and
say he has, O, the
name of Konrad!'

'May it please you, Sire,'

Konrad bows,
his voice low, but quietly
sounding as if soft-rumbling
thunder,

'thy knowest of my name,
I discern not how,
but it is Konrad,
your Knight at Arms ~

I offer my sword
to you,
your liege.'

'You are not my love'
Quinella darkly mutters,
then turns to Konrad ~
and radiantly,

'Sir Knight, be you recognized
by your righteous
name Konrad?'

'Aye, dear lady,
it be so…'

'Do not converse with him!'

'And dutiful Knight Konrad,
have you come from a
very far-away land?'

'Ignore her!'

'Aye, mistress, which I now undergo,
my steed and I are traveled
so far, just to heed…'

'I said, be Quiet!' roared
Wizard Nor...

Quinella and Konrad both look towards
the Wizard…

'Quinella, my exquisite one,
thee have no explanation
to be conversing with
thy foreigner.  Draw near,
allow me
to squire thee, as I know
thee had not a fair
night, and must be very
tired and sore…'

'Wizard, unloose me,
do not deposit your
decrepit hands on my forearm,
but withdraw from me,

thee way home is known to me,

but this Knight…

O, Sir Knight, sun's light
has made last sundown fade
away, but thy visage
gives me a strange
chill…

thou hast seen thee heretofore,

thy raiment,

thou hast harkened thee before,

and dost give credence to
thy spirit appreciating thine spirit…

to sweeten thy dream,
woulds't thou be?

Is it You?'

'Dear Lady,

'twas two moons ago
thy journey began,

noble man and friend both
gaffawed at my tale

of a voice, thy inflection,
tremulously rich,
enchantingly husky, a
voice that Jason must have heard!

Virtuous friends conceived
me mad
to seek a vision of mine heart,
a haunting, entreating
chimera,
which, all gods willing,
is displayed up before me
here, before me now,
emanating from your
rubied lips,
thy oceanic eyes…

and thy see by mine own
eyes thee brilliance of your
auburn hair, and thy woulds't
caress thy soft tendrils….'

'Touch them not!' growled Wizard.

'Quinella! Maiden, have you gone
mad! Listening to this despicable
sputtering fool who pursues
hallucinations! By my leave,
decease now! Retreat with you ~
your maman is worried,
and I shall dispense
with this
madman!'

Quinella steps nearer Konrad, Konrad glares at Wizard, and in
the background, buzzards begin to descend from the sky,
landing to the ground behind Wizard.

Karilea,
my friend, I really do not know what you are eating or drinking these days... but this is one heck of a story line followed to the best detail possible and most effectively penned.... A MASTERPIECE IN THE MAKING... yes that's what this is...

yes and please keep eating and drinking the same ... maintain the same diet for all the time you can...

as the reader sits in his corner awaiting the next piece of this magnificent OPERA...

offering...
My regards,
sudhir

dear Ladysixstrings, so gladdened hast thou thy heart, to know you are pleasured by this...

Sudhir, a tankard of mead, small loaf of bread, some cheese made good thy meal...thy conclusion to this, thy opera, to be penned in the bowels of night, may be this night...and some will sigh, and say nay...other shall yea, and say give way, to more futuristic pieces...

Gentle poet, I would be among those who say, "YEA!!!"

And if thou wouldst, a tankard of ale for me and my hearty companions, for we have travelled long and hard over yon land to read of the tale that thou spinst of the Fair Quinella, Brave Konrad, and the evil wizard. . .

We await the finale with the anticipation of a thousand sunrises. . .

There will be no rules within the area of fighting for the love of Quinella. The handsome Knight with his gleaming sword, survivor of many battles against the evil Wizard who has lived centuries and knows many tricks to make up for his pathetic wrinkled state. Cheering on the Knight, the one who has ridden night and day to find her, is the pure maiden. It has come to this.
