Eventide

As journey we to sun's recline
and grow we nigh to ends of time
your words, cool balm to aches astray
as whipoorwill at end of day

And tragic paths that cannot ken
toward each other's last amen
might still reside in sharing wood
and meet in meadows understood

As racing brooks trail mountainside
with heart's intent they cannot hide
for it is to the river's flow
they stream together down below

To crash at last into the sea
in torrents tossed, we two will be
forever more to flow as one
our ocean's own 'neath setting sun

Claire,
I have to agree with Sy on this one. . . your words flow out of your pen like the waves crashing on the shoreline of a secluded lake, waiting to be found by lucky travelers. . .

Simply beautiful. . .

Claire,

This is lovely...such wonderful imagery.  I could almost hear the sounds of the tumbling waters.

Claire, this is a lovely piece.

these two lines come out so romantically to me. I'll be there.

On a mountain far away,
I found myself at end of day,
A rushing stream in headlong rush,
To yon valley, green and lush.

I was fortunate enough to spend the weekend in the mountains, and then to return to this beautiful poetry, 'tis a wonderful day.

Denise, as always, I thank you for reading and letting me know you enjoyed this.

Parker, I'm glad you felt the romance in this piece...in the meadow at eventide... I'll see you there.

Sudhir, your kind comments bring a very nice smile to me this afternoon, and I thank you for it.

Mike, I can just imagine that your time mountainside must have been invigorating. Thank you for finding this little piece here.

Brian, thank you. This piece actually happened in about five minutes, and was inspired by a beautiful, moving poem that a special friend sent to me. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Local Rebel, I lean toward serene scenes. Thank you for reading.

Claire,

This is beautiful.  Such wonderful water images.  Your "friend" seems to have really inspired you, whoever "he" is...

Lone Wolf, yes, my friend "and" his poem(s) are so very inspiring to me, always. Thank you for your kind response.

Jwesley, you read this three times? What a compliment! (Or was it just that hard to read?)     Thanks for reading (all three times) and for kindly letting me know.

I love the whole theme of this poem, and the way you carried it through from beginning to end. And of course, your exquisite wording makes it a beautiful poem'Liz
