How long will this madness last?
Among our kin and fellow men
Will it now the end come fast?
Will we all be praying then?

As the heavenly lights go out
And darkness covers all around
Will there be a stifled shout?
Will forgiveness there abound?

Planet earth and virus man
Is teetering on the abyss edge
Try recalling if you can
The covenant the sacred pledge

Free will we were given then
To play and shape our futures own
Can you blame the mighty when
The prodigal returns alone?

To late the shout to save the day
The wilderness it echo’s still
The devil still he hides away
With lost poor souls his coffers fill

Redemptions road it lies ahead
The twists and turns a hand of thorn
The withering tree is almost dead
Will there be a sapling born?

Wow, very serious thoughts here Jon, and put into words so well.  I guess it's so good I just don't know what to say now.  Wow.

Hi Jon...

It may be heavy, but you told it
like it is!! People need to wake
up and realize what's going on all
around them. We're like a pack of
sheep being lulled to sleep by the
          media and politicians. Somebody
needs to ring the general alarm!!
                Great writing here...
as you can see, I got right
                    into it!!

Today is a gift....
That is why they call it
'the Present'!

Not so much heavy,Jon, as intense. These days faith is like cotton candy...a taste in the mouth then melting away...nothing substantial at all and people wonder why the world is like it is?

Hoping, yes...hoping. But the important thing is to share the message and network the means. Loved this, Jon.

Ah Jon, some works just cannot elicit a prompt response, simply because you made the reader think! And in that, I say, well done!

Jon,
Great poem.  This reminds me of a poem I wrote long ago.  I like the way you incorporated religion into this poem also.  I did not do the same with my poem, but it is along the same line as yours.  Watch for it.
Again, great poem.
