My son likes to write in his journal while I do my own creative writing.  Having noticed my interest in poetry, he has been writing a lot of rhyming things lately.  This poem, however, is a real break through for him, as he's been dealing with some very stressful transitions.  It warms my heart to know he can express so wonderfully in his writing the way he is feeling...

"Happy"
by D.J.

At home in bed I lay asleep,
all the dreams that come I can't keep.
The ones of joy and happiness
when I'm awake are ones I miss.

I'm happy now, don't get me wrong,
my dreams they never last too long.
And now awake I feel a smile
come from inside me all the while.

I've learned in dreams how to feel
the happiness that's in me still.

This is a very nice poem, and unique as well. You have good reason to be proud of your son.  Probably be a poet like mom!

Very good... do you think he would be up to giving some writing lessons...I really could use some help.

Thanks for a wonderful read.

This is precious, and does seem to reflect a sense of healing. Please tell him that his poem is GREAT!   I love it when children are encouraged to write...good job, Mom!

What a great display of talent your lil one has shown here
A young man with that much talent will surely have girl`s ringing the phone off the hook when he get`s a lil older

Look`s to me like he`s had a Great Teacher.
I hope that your feeling better and were able to put aside those boxes of Tissue?
Thank`s for sharing Mom

Thanks, everyone!
I knew I could count on you to brighten his
self-esteem.
It seems "we" are not the only ones to benefit
from the replies...
He couldn't wait to get home from school
and see what everyone thought.
THAT alone encourages his writing emensely!
Thanks, again!
I am very, very proud of him.
