The burden resting on my back
Is starting to weigh me down
I set off looking for slack
Not sure where it will be found

In the distance on top of the hill
I can barely make out a shape
You are hanging there still
From the cross there's no escape

I feel a force guiding me
Pulling me to Your feet
Only You can set my burden free
"Come my child have a seat"

At the foot of the cross I kneel
Amazed by Your immense grace
You know exactly what I feel
Though You are in this place

"Let me ease the load for you"
He whispers softly in my ear
"I am the one who will see you through
Year after year after year"

I humbly bow my head before Him
As His mercy heals my battered soul
Suddenly the future isn't so dim
And alas my shattered heart is made whole

P.C.,
Thanks....always glad to inspire.  Really wasn't thinking of the time of year when I wrote it.  Just the turmoil in my life.

Denise....thank you.  I try!!

Thank you for this wonderful poem. I loved the approach, the thought of going to the hillside with a burden and kneeling before Him. That is exactly what we do.
Very beautiful

Liz,
You are welcome for the poem.  Happy to share it with others.  That is exactly what I intend to do....give him my burden.  Thank you for the wonderful comment.

Sven,
Great quote....one of my favorites.  Thank you.  I know there are times we must let go and see what happens.  Seems I have no choice in the letting go this time...
