My husband lies in bed this eve
A thick black book rests upon his knees
Studying facts and figures ever more
Instead of writing sweet, or funny prose.

The life of work has claimed his time
He's devoted himself to bettering his mind
Giving his occupation it's worldly due
It seems he's found a brand new muse.

But this time he has scheduled me into his days
Always giving me his worthy praise
He's become a calmer, patient man
The one I always hoped was in the plan.

And while we live away from home in this Chattanooga town
I've found I rarely have reason to as much as frown
The sun comes up; the sun goes down
And my sweet, loving  man is much more often around...

How wonderful that you can be with him! And that he's making time for you...though he should be 'making time' for his job..and concentrating on you!

You paint a wonderful picture with the black boot  I can see you two in this poem. It is great to write about the different places you go and your feeings there.

I'm going to send you a gift certificate to Victoria's Secret.  Get something sexy and he will stop reading in bed. LOL.
