Author's Note:  My parents were the inspiration for this poem.  They met and fell in love when they were
young.  They got married when my Dad was 18, and my Mom was 14, and they have been together ever
since.  Their love continues to grow, every day.

I wrote this poem, looking through the eyes of my father, and presented it to them on their 45th
anniversary (they have now been married 52 years.)

        I Looked on You

I looked on you at morning,
And perceived a lovely rose;
So radiant, your countenance,
So peaceful, in repose.
Your smile, 'twas like the sunrise,
A wonder to behold!
I looked on you at morning,
And watched your bloom unfold.

I looked on you, again, at noon:
The day was halfway through.
And, still, your face was beautiful,
And rich with rosy hue.
The sparkle in your eyes
Had not been dimmed by worldly cares.
I looked on you at midday,
And found you sweet and fair.

I looked on you at evening,
As the moonlight kissed your brow;
And felt you were the greatest gift
That life could e'er bestow.
Your auburn hair was lovely, still,
Though time had turned it gray.
I held your hand at evening,
And was thankful for the day.

What a lovely anniversary gift! I bet they enjoyed it even more than I did. And what a sweet story to tell.

It's obvious to me that you come from a loving background - You've got a sensitive and mature handle on life.. Nice job here..

Troy~

This poem is almost too beautiful for words.

Troy, this is lovely. I'm sure it was your parents favorite gift. I did a poem for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary back in Jan and I think it was their favorite gift also
