I haven't seen you for awhile, but you're always in the back of my mind
And my thoughts drifting to you, now and then I often find

I wish that they wouldn't, because it's only bad memories that I hold
Memories of you and I together and my heart to you I sold

It went to you at a price, I couldn't afford to pay
So my thoughts still drift to you, upon this very day

If I knew then what I know now, how you'd sell my soul for your own gain
I would never had said yes, that I would play your game

You held my heart at ransom and slowly destroyed my soul
All along I never knew that this would be your goal

Sometimes we play the game of love and have a price to pay
Sometimes we play the game and the love is there to stay

We take up the gamble and sometimes pay a hefty price
For something that rips our soul apart with every cutting slice

So here I find myself thinking about you and the forgiveness that I gave
But I will never forget the path that you did pave

For the path was long and trecherous, a journey I could not bare
Thankfully I found my knight in shining armour, who gave me tender loving care

So even though you're sometimes on my mind, you can't hurt me anymore
And my knight in shining armour protects me forever more

***Tracie,
Fantastic.
My condolences, but the last stanza...wow.
Well done!

Love is not a game we always win...but when we do, it certainly makes the gamble worthwhile

Thanks, your words so true.
Can't imagine my life if I'd never risked to gamble again, I wouldn't be where I am today a wife and mother.
