** This is an editorial, written thru frustration.
Please someone take it, and make it pretty. I challenge ya!! (smile)

Take my car, please
just let me take a walk
down that long strip of broken cement
the kind that I rode my bike on
and learned how to pop a wheelie for the first time

The sidewalk
where I learned what
step on a crack, break your mother's back meant

The sidewalk
where you walked down
and waved at ppl you didn't know,
engaged in spontaneous conversations
about.. ohhh
"nice lawn"
"is that your dog?"
"you lived here long?"

Of course we don't know our neighbors anymore

It's hard to walk a baby in a stroller
down the highway!
It's hard to take a walk with your 7 year old
through ditches and other people's yards

I want to take a nice walk this evening
without having to shout.. "CAR COMING!".
every two seconds!

argggg
I don't want my MTV

I WANT MY SIDEWALK BACK!!!

The Sidewalks Of My Youth
~*Marge Tindal*~

Where have all the sidewalks gone?
I want to see them back.
Want to teach my kid
'Step on a crack
break your mother's back!'

Roller-skates
and skinned up knees
Someone bring 'em back.
Pretty, pretty please.

Down the sidewalks of my youth
I'd love to take a stroll
and chat with all the neighbors
when walking my daughter to school.

Take a spin around the park,
drawing chalk-hearts on the walk.
Push the baby in the stroller
and with the neighbors talk.

Watch the paper boy
pop a wheelie on his bike,
as he tosses the morning paper
and manages to get it just right.

When the day is over
and the children are tucked in,
I'd love to take a stroll
on the sidewalk with a friend.

Take me back
to the good old days.
Where are the sidewalks of my youth?
Why did they go away?

*Kay-Lynn ... hope you enjoy.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Wow! Marge!! You are quick!! (and may I say talented!).

Want to go a little deeper?
Descriptions of warm summer breezes, stubbing your toe?

The sound of your high heels for the first time?
The tracks your's shoes made in the snow on the way to school.?

haha I got a million memories, just can't put them in a "sweet" order, but you my dear, I feel can write something much more deep.

But I must say... whewww.. that was FAST!
hahah.
good work!

ohh and don't forget about.....

the sidewalk marked your change in age.

ie... yes, you may go "down" the block
"around the block"

3 blocks.. etc..
all measured by the precious sidewalk.

What do we measure now??

(smile)

Hey, gal.
My puppy jumped on my lap as I hit
submit .. so hope you like it twice.
Tried to delete one of them ...
but it's having none of that noise tonight.

I enjoyed that ... thanks.
Will take up some of the other issues
when the 'muse' strikes me.
You'll get others, I'm sure.

Next time ... post it in the Challenge
Forum.  Great place to get responses and
the challengers love it.
Have a nice evening ... am still enjoying
the MP3's.

Cheryl, tell me what else you remember.. please.

I want everyone's imput.

I can't think of sweeter memories than sidewalks..

and now they're a thing of the past..

Noone knew how important they were, til now .
They're gone.
I'm very sad my children will never enjoy a sidewalk..
They don't cost much money. Who decided we didn't need them any more??

If there's one thing we need more of.. is sidewalks!!!

Ways of touching people in casual, ways.
Un threatending ways.
Watch Mayberry RFD?
That place would be nothing without sidewalks!!

Dammnitt I want my sidewalks back!!
(opss sorry, )
