You repress and cover
your inner feelings and show.
Only that, that which you allow
others to see and know;

But, I saw
I know, I see.
The you, the you desperately
fighting to get out, to be free;

Within the recesses of your heart, you mind, your soul,
you're afraid to show, to let others know-that you're vulnerable.

You laugh, you joke, you play, and so well you cover;
your hurt, your despair, and, how you suffer;

I come to you, no knight, no shining armor of white.
But only, so you'll know and maybe might.
Share with me that which you hide,
hide deep inside.
Share with me, a friend, your inner being, where you truly abide;
So hopefully someday you'll use your rusty key.

And invite someone in, in to see,
the true you within,
your reflective twin,
and just maybe she, who you allow to se,
just maybe, might, be me!

 Did Jesus laugh?
I think He did,
'cause He was once
a little kid;
and all of us
were made with joy
both sugar-spice girl
and snake-snail boy!

Great poem, I know someone who this poem would be perfect for. I am touched by the sentiment of this poem.

 I am not a poet, I am merely one who speaks in emotion

This sad inspriration remined my on an old song.
"The Tears of a Clown, when no one is around"
Not sure who did this song.
But yes the poem is nicely done.
Thanks for the insight

 The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

Very nice poem Echo.  Sometimes it's hard to open up and reveal yourself.  But with a friend like you I'm sure that person will come around.

Wow....this describes my best friend to a "T"....you've obviously done a great job, seeing as how all these people say that they know someone like the person you've described here.     Good work.

You have certainly been on a roll here lately!  Oh the inner pain, and then shutting the rest of the world out. So we don't let anyone else in there to hurt. That rusty key can always be cleaned and polished.
With the right key to the right door, we can have the truest, purest love of all!

When you can't make up your mind
Which way is right for you,
Stop and softly ask yourself,
What Would Jesus Do?

Echo-
This is pretty gosh-darned good poetry !
Your thoughts found their way to the page
and turned on a light for me.

Echo, I enjoyed this poem very much. So sad the need to hide inside, but, so well understood by so many.   -SEA

I thought a lot tonight as I watched you bump people one after one long after hours and people had all said so long, and too, the poem you had sung. I would question what I thought you believed after seeing the things you'd rung. I did a bit of pondering of what you've really done. Does a Christian really bear false witness... Is there any more to say..?

Great poem, yet again your poetry makes me warm inside, I may use that as a chat up line for some one I know ... we'll see, I'll tell you if it works .
