Scrabble by Moonlight

Now deep,
the velvet
burgundy
moves cool
against my skin
as I lean toward you,
reaching in,
slowly,
just the trace of blush
upon my face.
You raise your glass
to your lips
and sip,
chablis smile.
I,
nearly stopping,
take a while
then easing
my uncurling fingers
teasing
as your eyes plead,
and with
only the tips,
release
the tile.
"W"
your mouth
says
silently
and my heart
pounds.

Dear LadyClaire

I love the game of Scrabble, but...hmm..this sounds like no game I ever played.  Loved the poem!

Such a vivid and sensual description.  Reminded me of a friend of mine.  She told me her boyfriend proposed during a game of scrabble..seems they had a nice little game going and I hope as sensual as yours and she left the room for just a minute..and when she returned he had written the words "Will you marry me" with the tiles.  He then got down on his knees and formally ask her to marry him.  The wedding is in April.  My lovely friend finally to be wed.    James

Martie...thank you

James...I suppose I should perhaps retitle this "What A Perfect Game of Scrabble By Moonlight Could Be Like...I'm afraid this one's only a fantasy...but I do enjoy playing the game, and wouldn't moonlight make it nice??...

Your friend's fiancee sounds like an imaginative fellow...what a neat way to propose!

Me thinks it would be extremely difficult to play scrabble with you.  The letters would likely melt.

This is my all time FAVORITE of your work

It DOES sound like a game of Scrabble that I played... Except there was no moonlight - But there was champagne..... Is that good?... Should I have lost that game???

THANK YOU for making me smile...

Mike...you think?? So does that mean you wouldn't at least try??

Nan...I'm glad you liked this one so much! Champagne would be fine, with or without the moon's light. I'm sure you had something of a little fire going to cast a lovely glow, regardless. Thank you!

Marge! How cool! Thanks! (...so you liked it??) *S*

Meadowmuse please do not change that title in any way...I love your title...I know you were only joking..but just in case..
The way you described the game was so vivid and so desirable that I could just imagine it in my mind.  You have a wonderful gift to take a fantasy and bring it to life.

I just remembered that I had talked to my friend a few days previous and ask her if her boyfriend was finally going to marry her and I had ask her if he was romantic.  And so just a few days later she told me the story of how he proposed.  He had been trying to figure out how to propose to her since November.  Isn't it funny how something which would seem so simple and desirabe can sometimes be so hard to do.   I told her I thought that was a very romantic moment.  James

Oh I can't play a lick of scrabble....I am so awful :P

But this in deed does make me think I am missing something by not playing   < !signature-->

This is fabulous, what a way to play. Your imagination created a masterpiece with this poem.

To say it simply: You rock!
In other words, you have a talent unique to take a few words and spin a web of wonder and sensuality, even apparently, out of that which on the surface seems "normal."
Awesome Claire, umm, care to play a game?

James, since you like the title, I will leave it be. *smiling* Thank you for such a sweet review of my little poem...I'm glad the fantasy came to life for you. *smiling again*

First Knight, not even a lick? Well, you know what they said in Porgy and Bess..."One never knows, do one?" (until one tries, perhaps?) Thank you for your reading and your comments.

Michael...ah, thank you, Michael. I'm glad you found something to like with this.  Now go ahead and breathe, dear. *smiling*

Lost Dreamer...thank you! Sometimes my imagination gets the better of me...*sigh* So glad you liked this!

Christopher...why, thank you for such kind remarks. Now about that game...get comfortable...now, draw seven tiles, one at a time, verrrry slowly......    *smiling*

Meadow,
I love your words,
I love your roam.
I love your mind,
I love your poem.

PS. Your letter W was a symbolic touche.

Ok Claire, this was way too sensual a game.
I think I'm getting hot flashes now. I think the next time I get a chance, I'll ask.... Would you like to come over for a game of scrabble.
(and i'll softly whisper it in her ear)

Hi, Claire.

Here's hoping your fantasies come true. With that much detail and love of words, they deserve to. And when you think about it, Scrabble is sorta of a poem in itself -- trying to make sense of words distilled to their essence.
