Silver tears run freely down my frozen face-
As I come once again, to remember goodbye,
Among the resting souls buried in this place.

Raw emotions pour down upon hardened stone-
As you lie silent to a daughter’s pleading call-
A heartbreaking call- that still leaves me alone.

I drop to my knees, palms flat upon the ground-
Close my eyes to remember your presence-
Pretend to hold your hands, feel your arms around.

A whirlpool of emotions rise against my heart-
As bitter winter wind wraps about my soul-
Lingering within the emptiest part.

I lost you the day your angels called you home-
But I’ll return again, the same time each year-
To this cold place where your spirits roam.

*Goodbye to yet another year without you, my sweet Father…

devina, you know I share your pain in this.  My father's passing was terribly hard on me.  Not being able to be there on Feb. 3rd nearly killed me this year...that's the anniversary of his death.

Your father is always with you, though.  He's there so long as you carry him in your heart.  Know that.  Know also that he sees you.  Know he knows your pains and your joys.  He must be very proud of the woman you have become, I know I would be.

A beautiful and sad tribute.  I feel your loss.

devina, you brought a tear to my eye with this piece. I was only 4 when my father passed away, but if their be angels I somehow know that he's my guardian angel. I believe yours is their too.

I feel the same also.  Miss him everyday.
Your poem is wonderful. emotions that
"linger within the emptiest part".
Very nice effort with this piece.

Let me add my own loss to that of those here. . . it's been 23 years for me. . . but it still hurts on days like today. . .

Thank you Devina. . . this is beautiful, I will add it to my collection and say a prayer for all those who suffer the loss of a parent. . . at any age. . .

Devina~
Such a heart-felt piece.
Lovely, little one.
It touches my heart.

Oh, devina, this says so much of what I have felt. Thank you for sharing this here, and take care.

devina, this is beautiful but sad. I know how you feel. I posted my poem only a week or so ago about my Dad who passed to a better place two years ago. It is strange to thing time has passed so,when it feels like it was just two days ago.  I feel for you and if you need a friend I'm here

Did you hear that "crack?" That was my heart breaking in two. What a way to pack in the emotion, only to throw it out at the reader! Well done Devina!

Once again, we reach the milestone that we have passed so many times before.  Each time we pass it we leave a little part of ourselves behind for the next person.  My "anniversary" was in November and only 1 year had gone by.
