Hark good people gathered in this arena
Gather round as I tell of the Lady Marina
With skin of porcelain and hair like spun gold
Ne'er before was such beauty seen, or such a tale told.

Living alone in a castle by the sea
Marina had riches, but she yearned to be free
She wrote poems of the love she longed to know
Hoping that one day that knight to her himself would show.

Many had sought to win Marina's hand
They came from far and wide, all across the land
But she would shoot them down like targets with a dart
For though they knew Marina, they did not know her heart.

Then one day, from a land quite far
Came a knight whose armour shined like the stars
"Hark people of this fair city!  I am Sven!" he cried.
"I have come for the hand of Lady Marina, and I will not be deined!"

With skill and daring he battled the best
Dispatched them quickly, and passed the first test
Even Lady Marina herself was quite amazed
Could he be the one for which she had prayed?

He approached her throne, and took her hand
Got down on one knee, before eveyone in the land
And in a voice, quite clear and very fair
Spoke out to her and all the people there.

"Lady Marina, I have dreamed of thee night and day
Thou art my destiny, I will not be swayed.
Many foes have I battled, many miles I have come
Wouldst thou do me the honor, and be my shining sun?"

With that Marina rose to her feet
And bid him rise, so that their eyes would meet
Pledging to him her heart and her love
To her destiny, knight sent from above.

So ends my tale of the Lady Marina
I think you for thy attention, good people of the arena.
And remind you here that of all the stars that shine
None shines so brightly as the love of a lifetime.

Very sweet, Sven and beautifully written.  Marina should be extremely flattered by your words.  But, what happened to the paints?

  Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence.

Sven, I love this!  You are a true romantic and gentleman. I am very flatted to have a talented poet such as yourself write something so beautiful and creative just for me.  This has truly made my day! Thank-you!!

Nice writing Sven.  Nothing as bold as a man going after his destiny.   James

Sven, there are many ways a person could be challenged...which do you prefer?

Why Sven it would be totally unladylike for me to fight for a man!  And you know just what kind of a lady I am!
