If I were but a poet,
...and able to write verse,
I'd try and write as beautifully,
...as a Pennsylvania nurse,
I read her gently flowing odes,
...sweet music to my ears,
She has the power in her words,
...to bring us all to tears,
Martie, Liz and Meadowmuse,
...Denise and all the rest,
Join Nan, deVine, and many more,
...as Passion's female best,
Marilyn, Blondie, Rainbow Girl,
...they come from 'round the earth,
So many more that fill our days,
...with romance and with mirth,
Us menfolk sit and read in awe,
...the beauty they create,
They write of joy and sometimes sorrow,
...and with their pens elate,
If I were but a poet,
...a bard of days gone by,
I'd write of Passion's female poets,
...stars shining in night's sky.

I concede Hoot... can't keep up with you...
need a rest...  twas fun...

IF??
It seems to me that your not only a poet but a very talented one at at that.
And I agree the ladies do have a way of leaving us boys in awe and sometimes wanting a cold shower
This is a nice tribute to the ladies of passions.
Thanks for the read Mike.

This is wonderful! Thank you for including me in your poem....I feel blessed to be in such creative company in such a lovely tribute. But you forgot to fix that title! It should read, "Because I Am a Poet"....for you truly are one of the best, my  friend.

If I were a poet
then I’d write
with words sublime
I'd write them
in a sonnet
just like a friend of mine

I'd view the beauty
of a rose
and write with so much charm
that nightingales
would stop their song
their hearts I'd so disarm.

Mike, now he’s a poet
that can make me
laugh out loud
then cause a swoon
with mushy words
that touch me like a cloud.

Mike, you are a wonderful poet!  Thank you for including me…I feel very honored.

Ah, Mike~
What a charmer ya' are.
All that blarney, and it's not even
St. Patty's Day yet !
Ah, the gals all love ya', we do !
I'll be thinking there's a little bit o' sunshine
shining in your heart.

How beautiful Mike...you my friend are indeed a poet Thanks for including me here. You know I've got to do one more to go with this one right ?

If I were but a painter
...With canvas shining bright
I'd steal the colors from the sun
...And paint with all its light
I'd take the trees in autumn
...Their leaves in multi-blend
And capture them up with my brush
...Where colors never end
I'd take the brilliance from the sky
...The hues of white and blue
And on my canvas sparkling white
...I'd paint them all for you
I'd create for you a masterpiece
...So you'd be sure to see
That my greatest inspiration
...Is the one that you give me

Thankyou so much for mentioning me in this Tim.   You honor me, though, I am not sure I deserve it.

It you weren't so married,
I'll tell you something true.
Every girl from passions,
Would be chasing you.

For you are a great poet,
Your words in beauty rhyme.
They sweep a girl right off her feet,
Each and every time.

What can I say...excellent as always.

Mike, this is a beautiful poem and an incredibly sweet gesture. I had to do a double~take when I saw my name though...

Take care,

A beautiful tribute to some wonderful poets and wonderful hearts, Mike.  But, indeed, you are a poet to be reckoned with by all accounts.

Thus being a nice game you two have going there, and yes your right there are many good poets in here, like the two I'm writing to.
Well done, to both of you

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.
