A Confession

The stigma and the sheer disgrace
Are clearly written on my face
For I have fallen in the pit
Of sordid vice I cannot quit

For drugs can alter sense and mind
And leave all rationale behind
With friends' support and family's aid
Recovery's road has now been paved

I have agreed to follow through
Detoxification's wicked brew
For God's great mercy I have pled
For I'm addicted to the web

But where else could we have such fun?
Well, at least we have an addiction that adds culture to our lives! Cute poem, Elizabeth, and I can so totally relate!

Sigh...me too...

I realised that quite firmly last night when told rather grumpily at 4am that I should be in bed...

Can I help it if my net friends are all in different time zones?!

Smile - love this Lizzy

I, too, am hooked, I must confess
There is no cure for me, I guess
My fingers ache to touch the keys
Ride high on Passion's cyber-seas

Addicted to the poetry
And all the friendships here for me
There is another thing that's true
I'm hooked, Elizabeth, on you!!

She's hooked.
She's hooked.
Her goose is cooked.

Lizzy's sly
as a fox ...
convinced family
that she will detox.

Well I hope
you do agree ...
you can't overdose
on mere poetry.

Elizabeth, my friend ...
you do it so well !

I realized my addiction when the eye doctor asked how many hours a day I spend at the computer and the answer was "12".

Then he asked if it was work related and the answer was "no"

Then he asked if there was any way I could cut down and the answer was "no"

Then he asked if I also worked at the computer at my job. The answer was, "I don't have time to go to work. I'm writing sestinas"

So you see, I'm addicted
I thank you all for your responses. I enjoyed reading them

Now I see that Mr.B
Is hooked on verse
And hooked on me!
I am as honored as can be
And thank you for your poetry

HI MARGE!
Great to see your little quips again.
Must be feeling a little bit better! (yes?)
Thank you!

Thank you all!
Liz

"I don't have time to go to work. I'm writing sestinas." That's classic, Elizabeth! Well at least your addiction doesn't dull your wonderful sense of humor!

I'm also one of those
It's either win or lose
I' happy when the log on goes click
I like this bit of electronic
But don't I deal with people after all
some are small, some perhaps are tall
Don't we need some contact now and then
With other electronic addicted human
I do think I am Ok
Although that's not what my family will say
Know your not alone in cyber space
so lets get on and write some praise

Well done

Kamla,
I see you on line when I get up in the morning and when I go to bed at night, so tell me, when are you going to have time to go to classes?
Now Denise's name pops up at different times of the day, when I know she's at work. How can that be?

Thanks Helmut
Glad there are many other cyber poets. One of these days I've got to get a life!
Thanks
Liz

I'm not addicted, I said with force
I'm not, I do other things, of course.

Your in denial, my husband says
now turn off the computer
and come to bed.

This was great Liz!

Martie, You snuck in there very cleverly.
It seems everyone is confessing. Glad I'm not the only one. I was a little worried.
I'll be talking to you soon Martie, I hope we can get together

I'm appalled at what I see
all these addicts surrounding me
Its so easy don't you know
just hit the button, off it goes
back to life, back to work
kick the dog, kiss the jerk
take the time to see some friends
excercise, just do the bends....
Well, who am I kidding then,
their all online, every one of them
and i'm going back, and thats that!

Loved your poem... its sooo true.

Dearest Liz...I ask myself the same thing...!

No - this is merely a summery kind of state, and then...sniff, sob...it is back to nerdville...
