You asked for a sonnet, Mr. Balladeer, so here it is

The Great Macaw

The sound of music floated down the street
The sweet and droning sound of days gone by
It was an organ grinder that you meet
Who hands out fortunes to the passers-by

And sitting on his shoulder is a bird
A great macaw with multi-colored plume
Who picks a fortune scrolled in rhyming words
As organ grinds an old familiar tune

And I, with child of one in joyful state
Stood watching as he reached his little hand
And from the parrot's beak he drew his fate
A fortune from a bird in far off land

It said a brilliant artist he would be
The great macaw described him perfectly

Very enjoyable, Elizabeth! Makes me think of more stories associated with the great macaw... more food for sonnets, perhaps?!

WOW! You certainly know how to respond to a request!! If I had asked for a sequel to War and Peace, I'm sure you could have come up with it. Great work, Elizabeth!! I can't wait for the villanelle!!!!

Tamera and seaangel,
Thanks so much for your kind remarks

Mr. Balladeer,
OK, you can have a villanelle, but I have to look it up first to find out how it goes Thanks,
Liz
