New Year's Coming
~Marge Tindal~ 1999

Christmas is over,
the New Year is 'round the bend.
I kind of liked '99,
I hate to see it end.

But on the other hand,
2000 will undoubtedly fly,
and it won't be long
'Til 2001 comes rolling by.

Who would have thunk it?
Who would have thought it true?
Who would have figured we'd be here,
to see 2000 coming through?

I really want to be there,
so I'll don my horn and my hat.
When 2000 comes ringing in,
why, I'll salute to that !

For now I'll wait
until '99 is spent.
Then I'll sit here wondering
just where the heck it went.

The Year 2000 ... What a kick!
Think of the things we'll do.
We won't be disappointed,
not me and not you.

When 2000 comes rolling in
on the pealing of the bell,
I'll look with anticipation
at the increase in my e-mail.

Promise that you'll write me,
when the clock begins to toll.
The pealing in of 2000,
Oh, God, I feel so old !

If I live to be 100,
this will truly be,
The only Century change
I'll ever get to see.

Come on 2000,
in and out in a flash.
Let's get on to 2001,
now that's gonna be a bash !

*If you drive.....don't drink*

Pretty well covers it ...
Don't you think?

Marge, I don't know of any subject you haven't covered, but then you always come up with something new. And refreshing. And imaginative. And loving. And inspirational. And magical. And whimsical. Well, let's just say, your poetry is YOU. And I love it.

Thank you Elizabeth, my friend.
I hope to get a chance to read some
of the wonderful poetry of others tonight.
I hated to see Open #4 close ... lots of great stuff there to re-visit.
Have a wonderful day.

I must agree the years do fly, I still feel like it is still May here (but that might jus be because the weather is the same as it was in May LoL)  But it still feels like the year 2000 is YEARS and YEARS away but its only days.  I wish you a very wonderful new year, with more and more inspiration to write more and more wonderful poetry!

Each year is faster,
who made it so?
into 2000 I'm raring to go
and I'll be writing, don't you know
this old hen is in the flow.

Great poem Marge and poet.

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.

Tehehe...and I get there before you...

LOL - Sadly I will be far from my computer, surrounded by new year mayhem and then I shall be snuggled by my pile of tin food waited for the lights to go out!!

Great poem, Marge...hugs,  K
