Sweetie, phone lines and cable are probably down...they'll check in when they can. Just like you did...

Sending out prayers to all of our friends...

Hi There,
in my neck of the woods, SE PA, we didn't actually get the hurricane as bad as they said we would...the winds were down graded to between 40 - 50 mph.  We received a whole lot of rain...and a lot of wind on Sunday while it was moving out....so, it wasn't to bad, until the tornado warning came in around 10:45 p.m.  I will tell you this, I was very afraid...but it's over now, we made it through ok, and for that I'm very appreciative....

Thanks so much for your concern dear lady.

Lee J.

I'm so glad to hear that you're ok LeeJ, hope that others will check in soon too, but I think a lot of power went down overthere.

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

Thanks guys, I've got to admit, it was extremely frightening, and I know Karen knows what I mean, the fear of the after math.  We were extremely fortunate.

ah Lee...it's so fine to see you here.

You were on my mind even before the storm, you know. I have missed you and your poetry.

I'm very grateful to see your name again.

I was scheduled to travel via Amtrak from Michigan to Boston on Saturday, which would mean completing the trip before the storm actually hit on Sunday.  That made a lot of sense, considering that post-storm travel would likely get pretty complicated...  NOT!

We got as far as Albany and they shut down all public transportation early on Saturday, but not before they let us on the train with Boston as the final destination.  Ergo - two nights in an Albany hotel before the buses started to run.  Arrived home late on Monday to lots of power outages and trees in the streets, but otherwise unscathed.

It's now Tuesday, and the trains STILL aren't running from Boston to Chicago.

Um, it's all part of the adventure?

I wasn't traveling, didn't even leave the house all weekend, so I didn't experience any inconvenience. I didn't lose power, although the lights were flickering, the wind sounded scary, but the scariest part was the tornado warning threats. I didn't much care for spending time in the basement. There was extensive flooding throughout the city, but not in my neck of the woods and mass transit was shut down until late Sunday.

We aren't used to this stuff in the Northeast. First an earthquake and then a hurricane all in the same week! I'm keeping an eye out for the locusts next!
