Calling my friends together to offer up your thoughts and prayers for me~
On Wednesday, January 2, 2008, I will be having eye surgery~
Having a cataract removed and an Intraocular Crystal Lens implant~
(I'm kind of hoping for a fresh set of poetic eyes)

I hear that these operations are highly successful and though I'm a little anxious, I know that all will be well~

Bill and my family will be with me and I 'may' or 'may not' be able to access the computer for a few days ... so, not to worry ... when I can, I will let you all know that I'm fine~

Keep me and my surgeon and caretakers in vigil
that all goes well~

Happy New Year to ALL of you~
Love and LOTS OF *HUGLETS*

Marge,

I'll be thinking of you - the world is a beautiful place and your eyes help capture that beauty to share.  So, we all will be glad that they will return all fresh for this new year.

Dear Marge, I am keeping you in my prayers for the full success of your surgery and for you to trust and remain calm, as well as for your surgeon to be assisted by the Angels.
All will be well, no doubt.
I love to think of your new poetic eyes!! Your charm will be doubled!
God bless.
Love and hugs.

Marge, they want me to do this - so to be honest I am so glad you are my "Mikey" as I know you will tell it like it is.

I am so anxious about it I would rather walk around in the fog!   I can offer you a hug on this, as I know the fear of having it done for sure.

Here, it is VERY expensive to get done, about $1,000 an eye.  They do one eye at a time, and you do the drops for about a week.  However, YES it is very successful.  My friend no longer even needs glasses!  She claimed after three days for the first time in her life she could see her computer screen on normal view, and I know you may like that part.

Good luck!  Pahleeze let us know your experience, so the chickens to be know not to be so nervous.

Peace!

Thank you all so much~

I'm sure it will be fine, but I know that you all know that the more HE knows, the better we are~

So thanks for keeping the watch~

Mysteria~
Well .... because the doctor and I chose to implant the Crystal Lens ... best for fixing both near-sightedness AND far-sightedness, USA Medicare Benefits call this lens an UPGRADE ... and the upfront $$$$$ for ONE eye is $2000.00~
Then of course the 'other' bills will come in after Medicare has paid their 80% of the total medical bills~

Soooooooooo, here's looking at ya'~
And I WILL tell it like it is~

I've already started the eye drops ... and those continue until surgery and for weeks afterwards~

LOL ... my surgeon would like it if I weighed a little more ... but I've heard that before ... IF they charged by the pound I'd make out like a bandit !!

They will give me a light sedative ... not cause I'll need it or anything .... oh yeah !

I'm laughing now ... hope it continues~

My husband has done both eyes at a few months distance. And he is totally satisfied. He went and got it done without any fear, I think I was more worried waiting for him than he having it done (outpatient clinic).
This is to encourage you both, dear Marge and dear Sharon ...
Everything will be all right.
Love and hugs.

I have decided
to start a new trend
to lighten up
the year again
What do you think
that they will say
to the eye patch
that I wear on that day?

I think that it
looks rather in style
for 2008
and then awhile~

Gotta keep
my sense of humor
so there will not
be a rumor
that I have lost
my poetic eye
That would NEVER DO
oh me, oh my !!

Just a quick note - I'm doing okay.
Had doctor appt this morning and except
for some elevated pressure in the eye,
I'm doing pretty good.
Eye drops should take care of that
and I have another appointment tomorrow.
Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers.
Will get back when I can stay longer.

I've been out of town to a funeral or I could've chimed in to reassure you it's a piece of cake.  I had both eyes done years apart by different doctors and it's like someone washed the windows after 20 years of grime build-up.  It's fantastic!  Glad you're done, Marge.

Sharon, go do it.  You'll not regret it.

Checking back in and thanking you all for your kind thoughts~

The good news is that the incision looks good and the lens placement is good ... the not so 'piece of cake' that I'm having is that there is some really super irritation going on that even the doctors don't fully understand at this point~
It just feels like I have something in my eye that is causing me quite a bit of uncomfortable pain~

One area of the eye is just super irritated, not infected, just highly irritated ... causing pain~
Two confering surgeons have now changed my eye drops and the frequency of them~

I was on a total of five different eye drops, but they have now reduced that to three meds and one more for lubrication of the eye~

I'm a good patient and am trying very hard to do the meds religiously ...
I'll be okay, just right now it doesn't feel like it~

Keep the prayers up, please~
*Huglets* to all of you~

aw hun...

I don't know what doctor's orders are about tears, so I'll just light the candle and pray for your spirits, and let the doc tell you what to do about the rest.

Have a hug, from one who appreciates your eyes.

Dearest Marge,

Hang in there! Some people have different outcomes to the same type of surgery. Your doctors are on top of it all and I am sure you will be feeling better soon. I am sorry about the pain and irritation you are experiencing. I would have thought it was a "piece of cake." We all do heal differently. You are always in my thoughts and prayers.

Love, Patricia

Oh Marge, I am so sorry that you are not okay by now.  I too had a terrible pain and irritation shortly after my first eye operation.  I scared the doctor he was afraid it was an infection.  It wasn't and the medicine he gave me took care of it.  Hope yours works as well.  Love, Joyce

I'm sure it doesn't seem like "a piece of cake" when you have eye pain.  I'm sorry you're experiencing this unfortunate outcome and pray it will be shortlived, Marge.

I'd said it was "a piece of cake" without revealing my problem following the first removal.  That Dr. put stitches in (they no longer do)and scratched the retina when removing them.  That stung and burned more than I can express.  A series of drops and time healed it.  I didn't mention it as I doubt any doctors still use the stitches and aside from that unfortunate incident, both removals were a piece of cake.

God bless,
  Rae
