This morning Saddam Hussein was captured without shots fired this morning in a farmhouse near Tikrit. He was hiding in a 'spiderhole' (a small hole just large enough for a man to lay down in with an air vent and exhaust fan to allow him to remain under ground). Two of his assistants were also captured. He has been taken to an undisclosed location.

When they showed a video of him, he had a beard and straggly hair. The Iraqis in the audience at the news conference became loud and jubilant. Many were in tears!

I was just talking to a friend of mine about this exact subject.
He is of the mind that the capturing forces should have "oops"d and shot him as he escaped or some such.. I think that the best thing that could have happened was that he was captured alive... Alive, he is a deposed tyrant who murdered his own people to maintain power... Dead, he is a martyr to the invading imperialistic forcesd of the Great Satan (us).
Either way, a great deal of Iraqis and an even greater number of families and friends of American, and coalition forces are breathing a little easier today.

We are all equal but we’re individually different

I want to thank, God, that no one was hurt in this capture. Plus, President Bush for having the guts to stand up to criticism, and do what he felt was right for all people.

Great that he's captured...thank God maybe there will be an end to this in the near(er) future....

but now what?

and ps...Sadaam's not the only one who's tested weapons on his own people, it's happened right here in America too...don't forget that.

A rat in a hole! How appropriate were he was hiding and how fabulous that he has been captured.

Thank God no one was injured or killed during his capture and may the people of Iraq now live without fear.

God bless our troops and bring them home safely.

Love and Hugs, Marti

First of all, let me say how happy I am to hear this news from the citizens of Iraq standpoint, as it makes me happy to know that a man who brought so much harm on his own innocent people has finally been brought to justice and can never hurt them again! God Bless You, Iraq!

Secondly, I have to absolutely agree with what LilTai said. I only pray this doesn't turn into a huge political party, and I cannot tolerate a leader who rules with hatred and thoughts of vengeance in his mind with violence. Let's pray wars like this don't continue to escalate and finally Bush and other leaders can begin settling conflicts with diplomacy and peace rather than with guns and bombs. Therefore, to myself I pray soon we ourselves can have a more peace-loving leader and Bush also can quietly leave office.

Thirdly, God Bless our troops!

Love,
Noah Eaton

I heard the news at church this morning! Our priest announced it to us right after the service began. We all started to clap! I'm glad he wasn't killed and that there is now a chance for peace in Iraq.

I've been hearing on the news over here in Australia that he will probably be tried in an Iraqi court by Iraqi people. If that does happen, I hope they can find a sense of justice in it. I know it's not going to change what's happened, but maybe aid the healing process, not only for the Iraqi people, but also for the country as a whole.

This is indeed good news for the entire world.  I hope that his capture gives new resolve to our troops who are in harm's way, and I'm equally hopeful that the free world will adopt a new appreciation for the path our military has taken over the past few months.  These soldiers need our support.  This is a good day...

Laicie... Yep, I know what you mean. Although my favourite was "Bin Liner"... oh, How Green Was My Cactus is a classic...

But seriously, it is great news. It's a major step towards peace for everyone.
