New virus spreading via faux Microsoft address

Beware of emails that claim to come from the Microsoft support team. They may be worms in disguise. Sophos, the U.K. firm, warned Monday that the worm Palyh or Mankx has begun spreading via a message with the return address support@microsoft.com It’s not a message from the software company, but rather an attached worm that invades the Windows folder and replicates itself through address books. Moscow’s Kaspersky Labs says that Palyh may secretly establish spyware programs as well, although Sophos says those claims are not substantiated. The spread so far has been slow, hitting 69 countries since Saturday, and the worm is slated to expire automatically on May 30.

I Have had several messages regading this, just an FYI-- it seems to be pretty "real"

I just received this email not five minutes ago - and oddly enough - on my personal email account - not my Passions address.

The attachment says "Approved" with a number - and the file extension is .pif

Don't open it folks... I'm sure glad I didn't...

No worries here, I don't seem to get any email....

THANK YOU, Lauren, for telling us.

JP, how do you keep from getting junk mail?
I want my regular e-mails from everybody that I
know, but not those companies that send me all kinds
of ads I've never heard of. They all say that
they got my address from somewhere. I block them
and get five or six more in their place. Ugh!!

I think JP
thinks he only gets
junk e-mail and
deletes them all
before opening them...
