Yes, that's right people. Our favourite nut, Cherish, had a wonderful shock this afternoon. As you may or may not know, she submitted a poem quite a while ago named 'Black Coffee' for a competition. It was chosen as a winning entry and was published. As if this isn't a great accomplishment already! This afternoon, she received a phone call from an editor for a publication. This lady was ringing up to ask permission for a drama soceity to use this fantastic piece in a play! Of course she said YES!! So you all know what this means? Her piece will be publicly displayed in a production for all to see. More coverage and most of all, more display of her wonderful talent.  Here is the piece: "Black Coffee drips Periodically As the silence screams to be heard Confusion Permeates Settles in And (inevitably ) Takes over The resonating drip drip drip -plink- Drip Pounds against the hard, scratched surface of the table Seeing the words Listening to their sordily rapid movements But not hearing -not feeling -not touching Frustrates the senses beyond ( basic ) Instinctual insanity Clawing and scortching the page with eyes ablaze The body Tightens Tenses and Clenches Futile tears of Frustration form as the muted ( raging ) Howl of a woman undone erupts from within The drip of black liquid divides The Voices - of - Silence; drip-slash Drip-slash.Drip-slash Drip ( slash ) Blood throbs between the temples were an ache Drip...slash Gathers like a posse of corroding famished scavengers Raking through the dregs of black on white Picking up pieces of ( loose ) leaf litter Pictures form BURN ( disintergrate ) Then return as the percolator ( finally ) snaps into place. ~Ripple~" Nice, huh?  Congratulations, sweety. For someone so talented it is a wonderful accomplishment. *lotsa hugs* I'm really happy for you.  If this is all the world has to offer, I want a refund on my life. great, great news...congrats cherish!  always curious about these things... what was the competition? what publication did the editor work for? what drama society? |

*big HUGGLES to you all('specially the biggest nutter of em all- Lizzy! )*thanks for the awesome support you guys...makes me want to run around with a bedsheet tied to my neck pretending to be superman! 'bout the questions jenni, you'll get your answers here. but in short the competition was for a womans literature, both prose and poetry. there's an annual anthology here in Syd called Tangent and the book will be out in early march sometime. the name of the drama society on the other hand is something which my brain has lost hold of  ....but fear not 'cuz the editor said she'll be keeping in touch with me so ill find out again for you then.. once again, THANK YOU for all your support! you're all awesome!  life's not about who wins or loses, or about whos got the better car,or the most money. it's about living,and trying to make the best of what we have. |
