Blind spot experiment for anyone who has never tried this before!

Did you know that you have a blind spot?
And I’m not talking about the one when you are driving! Ha!
Seriously try this.
I’m not an expert on eyes but this test is interesting!
So give it a go and see if you can find your blind spot.
Here’s what you do.
If you scroll down the page to an X and an O

1) Cover your left eye with your left hand so you cannot see out of it
2) Look straight and directly at the letter on the left which is X
3) Slowly move your face closer to the screen always looking at the X
4) Stop when the other letter disappears!

Now scroll down and follow these instructions. .

Hey that is strange. I didn't have to get too close to realize the O was gone.

cool, it worked for me... I had to look right at the x with my right eye straight on. and it disappeared at about a foot to 10 inches away and stayed gone for a few inches.

~I think that you were just doing this so's anyone peeking in on me would think I was some kind of freak or something,...moving my head up and back from the screen ten times with my hand over one eye! hahahaa! Very funny you! I'll try again, what the heck. Hmm. *Peace.

The O disappeared at about 7 inches from the screen. How totally bizarre!!! Had fun with that one though. Thanks!

acire, I just measured it for me... the O disappeared completely at 11 inches.
I look straight at the x with my right eye and my left covered. also at eye level. move in from about 20 inches very slowly(snails pace) or you'll miss it. never take your eye off the x, and you'll notice the O is missing in your perevereal vision.

Yep, biological ...

Fortunately for us, the "blind spot" isn't large enough to cause us to miss anything substantial ... unless you read with one eye closed *wink*

Ummmm...Insect? This was great but next time warn me not to over do this experiment and please tell me how much pressure I should add onto my eye when I'm covering it with my hand. Had a week long blind spot. Guess that's why it took so long for me to respond.   <<<<<< Look! My eye still has trouble staying open!! HA!
Loved this alot and was very suprised when it worked. Thought you were pulling our legs.

That was cool... but I accidentally tore my contact while I was covering my eye!
