Net O.D.

Sitting typing frantically,
Saying words you long to hear,
I hear a soft voice calling me,
Whisp'ring in my ear.

'I am the ghost of cyberspace,
I've come to take you home.'
'Come fly into the ether,
Forever there to roam.'

My fingers turn transparent,
Through them I see the keys,
My clothes fall all around me,
Can't fathom these anomalies.

My form is quickly shrinking,
dematerializing from my view,
Not sure if this is good or bad,
I don't know what to do.

The voice says, 'Don't you worry,
I will not do you harm,
You are going to a better place,
There's no need for alarm.'

I feel myself dispersing,
Dissipating in the air,
And then I find I'm looking back,
To see that I'm not there.

I'm a whirling, twisting, essence,
An eddying, swirling cloud,
In another time dimension,
'STOP!' I shout out loud.

'This is not home, it's alien,
This is not my place',
A look of grim forboding,
On my pale contorted face.

My face! It's back I feel it,
Touched with returned hand,
No longer am I lost in space,
But back upon this land.

Shaking, I sit and wonder,
Was this all a dream?
Or was the voice and trip I took
Exactly what it seemed?

A taste of what is coming?
Of something not yet set?
A warning of what can happen,
With too much internet?

May your roof never fall in and those beneath it never fall out.

Irish proverb.

*grins*  Yes.. Wonderful.. I can see it happening....

MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU,
MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK
MAY THE SUN SHINE UPON YOUR FACE
THE RAINS FALL SOFT UPON YOUR FIELDS
AND, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN,
MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND

When you were out there flying in space
And with your hand you found no face
Were Whiskers there where none before
Did you have claws then on all four?
If so then call and I'll tell you
Your alter -ego has come through
And I will tell you what's gone wrong
The name should now be Cat De John.

Sorry John getting carried away...net fever
Grand poem...know the feeling Oh so well.
