ROAD DOG

Well I left California
For the Carolina sea.
But every day along the way,
I found no place to be.

Lived the fast life in Vegas,
That's a lonely, lonely place,
You give, you go but never know
What lies behind that face.

She smiles in a brilliant light
You can't help but feel drawn.
You roll the dice, you pay the price,
You die - or you move on!

Ft Sumner held me captive,
Felt the draw of Billy the kid.
But I won't stand trial on denial
For something I never did!

So I made my way to Philly.
Got drug through Puritan's hell...
But I won't grieve what I don't believe
So I rang that Liberty bell!

Life crystalized in Memphis,
While Houston broke my heart.
Yeah, some little girl from Arkansas,
Well she tore my world apart.

Now I'm back in California,
But my heart still longs for peace.
So I'm headed up the highway North,
Gonna find my sweet release!

Though I know it may never happen,
I'm forever compelled to roam.
Cause the world, well she's my lover
And the road, hell, that's my home.

Your words describe the wanderlust fo the searching man, wonderfully. Great.

May your roof never fall in and those beneath it never fall out.

Michael, Thank you for visiting us here and what a wonderful poem, I love it. I do hope you don't roam to much longer and you find somewhere to hang your weary feet.

Another great poem floated from your pen Micheal. Home is where the heart is and peace you'll find from within some day (soon I hope). ((((((HUGS)))))) my friend.

Wonderful poem Michael.  Your words touch the wanderer in all of us.

I went to sleep in Shreveport woke up in Abilene
Wondering why the hell I was wanted in some town half way between.

This sings to me, Michael ... I think it would make a great song ...
Wonderful piece .....

The next time you make your way to Philadelphia we'll have to get together! Traveling is so much fun, isn't it? I love driving through the different states. Great poem, Michael!

How far North are ya gonna go, m'friend?

May I never be too busy to help another's load,
Then I'll be drinking from the saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed.

L.D., me thjinks I will be wandering for life, but this pub sure has been a worthwhile stop...TY

Munda,  ((HUGS)) back to you my friend, I dream of the peace you speak of, perhaps one day it will come to pass.

twinsgd, Nothing wrong with some solid roots settling in good soil.  Sounds like heaven to me.

Jon Mewett, I can relate only too well to that...LOL  Somehow I always end up back in my halfway home...LOL  May never know why.

Pepper, I was surely missing my guitar when I was writing this one...  Would make a heck of a song I think too...

Denise, I could move state to state forever really - and never slow down.  I dind't know you were in Philly... will definately look you up next time through.

Satiate, I'll keep going until someone laso's me and throws me in their basement for the rest of my life...

Eveyone, thank you for making me feel so welsome here in the Pub.
