Appearing Day, caress my face with light,
Then greet the morning dove; it’s joyous song,
And then, by beauty’s shined eternal grace,
Shame the envious Stalking Moon, with thine;
Wipe the tearful memories from mine eyes,
And replace them with the good of thine own.
Where darkness veil doth cover painted sight,
Thy beauty’s light reveals the passion hued.
Restore my heart; breathe life into my soul,
And awaken the poet writer’s sleep.
Then leave me dream till first of morrow’s breeze,
Whence come anew, thy light returns to me,
     Pull back the tattered blanket of the night;
     Again bestow thy blessed charm on me.

~Gene

 It often comes to me at night
When lights are dim
And thoughts are bright.

As I ponder what to write,
Take pen in hand and with it make
My words appear as no mistake.

Guided by a force unknown,
I create a new and wondrous poem. ~Gene~

child, Pepper, twinsgd, Jon,

Thank you very much for your kind words.
I promise, the next one will be a true Shakespearean sonnet according to all the rules.

Gene I already responded once but somehow missed your question.  Read it twice but - sorry - I only "see" two people.  Guess I missed something important.

child,

Appearing Day and Stalking Moon are Native American Indian names and I am the Poet.  I started writing this with an American Indian story in mind, but then noticed that it seemed more like I was talking about the dawn replacing the night. So, I figure it could have a double meaning.
