I was reading about Acrostics in the Poetry Workshop and was compelled to give it a shot...Let me know what you think....did I survive?

Where do I go from here?
How do I go on?
Everywhere I look,
Reminders all around.
Endlessly breaking my spirit.

Don't believe I'm over it,
Outside appearances lie.

I try so hard to move on.

Gray skies cloud my way,
Over and over, day after day.

First time I wanted to call,
Realization washed over me,
Oh, the pain it brought,
My best friend, gone forever.

Hear your voice in my heart,
Everday I'm alive,
Reminding me you're here,
Even if it's only in my dreams.

Best,

First one? Not only is this a great acrostic, it's one of the best I've seen.

It's very difficult to write one and have it make sense while having a nice flow too. This one accomplishes both those things beautifully.

I find it very hard to believe that this is your first acrostic!  Very well done!  Do I ever relate!

Take care,

This looks like a success to me.     I just wrote an acrostic, though not one I can share here, and it was hard work!  This was not easy subject matter, either.  Good job.

I agree, you deserve an A!  This doesn't read like a "first" acrostic.  It's well-written and heartfelt!

always nice to see someone stretch her poetic limits and i say you have done this well....

the line "outside appearances lie" just grabbed me...i have no explanation for that but thought i shall tell you how much i liked that line

I usually don't care for acrostics but this one was an exception. It flows smoothly with good meaningful content.
