A trip to the lighter side!

She gingerly tosses the tiny fish
back into the depth of the sea
as she looks towards the land and
wishes for that which cannot be.

Few fishermen have seen her
in her existance of countless years
the sight of her is a good omen
and eases their deepest fears.

Her body-length, brown hair
shines with the rays from the sun
her laugh, the soft tones of music
she's an innocent beauty, that one.

She has many water-bound friends
for water-bound is she
fated to live her life
in the fathoms of the sea.

Her singin can be heard
all the fishermen say,
from dusk of an eve
until dawn of the day.

Then again she submerges
while the day is fair
the beautiful mermaid
with the shining, brown hair.

She swims the ocean
from both wide, wide ends,
keeping a loyal watch
over her fishermen friends.

Just go to the ocean
and if trouble there be,
look for the mermaid
of the deep, blue sea.

Wowowowow!! This is GREAT, child!!
You paint a perfect picture of the sea-dwelling mermaid...almost makes me wish I was water borne too!
But then again, I'd hate to give up my fire-breathing ability!

You're going to hear my voice in the morning calling your name
And know my love and my desperation were one and the same...
Baby it's alright...
Take this pain and all this sadness
It's alright
Take this rain
You're going to be free...

What a delightful vision of things not seen, but we all know they are there because we perceive with not our eyes, but our hearts.
Thanks for this refreshing view. Dennis :^)

Poetry is the expression of thoughts which awake the higher and nobler emotions, or their opposites, with words arranged to some accepted convention.........or maybe not! Dennis :^)
