Last night was my last night,
to strike out on my own,
before I strike out though,
I pick up the phone,
down on my luck and
feeling so down,
I give it a chance,
and by chance he was home!
he was cool,
he was hot,
it was bound to happen,
bound for the dance,
my heart starts flapping,
he was fast on his feet, things going fast!
Last thing I need now,
(it probably won’t last)
crazy thoughts lately,
a little too late,
I’m set to be married and not to my date!
The date is for Monday but off I still go,
knowing that he doesn’t know
what I know!
Around here,
things been going around,
sounds crazy I know,
but nothing is sound!
Fat chance,
slim chance
he’ll like me,
it’s a chance that I’ll take though,
I’ve got to be free!
I’d love to be hitched to someone,
someday,
but someone I love in a special way.
Not cuz my family thinks I should,
should that be the reason?
For my own good?
I thought that a wedding would be really great,
great big house
in a small southern state!
Housed in for life with kids, maybe three
who am I kidding,
that life’s not for me!
He was mad about me,
but I was just mad,
the madder I got,
the more reason I had,
to run off and dance with another guy,
a guy that makes me twitter and sigh!
So off I left,
and left my beau,
met up with another and it was just
so,
so wonderful knowing
I had nothing to lose,
I kept my freedom
and my right to choose!

i know this will sound insane, but you just desribed the week leading up to my wedding day...lol...thank you for letting me know that i'm not the only one out there who went through that situation!!! somethings were just not meant to be...

lol! Yep, I've had a few close calls in my past too..I held out though, and am happily married now!

I was just playing around with words and this silly poem popped out!

In a weird way this reminds me of my ex boyfriend. He is getting married next week I think and part of me still loves him.

*dryly* I won't bring up what this reminds me of in my own life, but it was a wonderful poem to read...And I'm glad you kept your freedom of choice.. Good luck to you.
