The stars are shining brightly.
The moon is rising high.
I'm driving down an endless road,
Just trying not to cry.

The past has risen once again
And looked me in the face.
It tried to find who I once was,
In a different time and place.

But life has changed me, as it does...
And I'm not the same I was before.
You best remember who I am now
Before you come knocking at my door.

Once I'd welcome you with open arms,
And talk of times now and past.
But I tired of the games you play,
Decided this goodbye would be our last.

So gently, my door I'll close,
And leave you outside, looking in.
Maybe we'll both wish tomorrow
For places our relationship has never been.

That's something that I'll live with,
Wondering from here on out.
I'm sorry I can't play with you.
Please don't cry and please don't pout.

The little girl you played with
Has grown and moved away.
Leaving behind this young adult,
Who doesn't have time for games today.

I'll watch you drive slowly away,
Before I leave for my own car.
And taking one small moment,
I'll look silently at the stars.

Then I'll head down the path I've chosen,
As yours you'll follow, too.
Driving slowly to go to work,
I'll think of my memories of me and you.

The stars are shining brightly,
The moon is rising high.
I'm driving down an endless road,
Just trying not to cry.

The past has risen once again...
And looked me in the face.
It tried to find who I once was...
In a different time and place....

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.

wow no one could put it down better. I love the way it flowed down the page

Words flow heavily,
A carbon copy of my heart,
As well as my soul.
