a bottle of light he brought to me
and asked me to open my eyes--
but i was afraid;
for so long i had been in darkness.
one day,
     i closed my eyes.
then there was reason--
reason for the darkness!
and it made sense.
and i understood it.
i became comfortable in it--
     then he came...
a bottle of light he offered to me.
a plain old bottle it seemed,
only it was sealed
with the permanence of no mortal man.
     and the light,
he told me,
was meant to shine forever.
     open your eyes,
he said.
and he held my hand.
so i opened my eyes.
     and i jumped up,
     and i ran--
for i could see!
          i could see!
and then,
i was afraid
to close my eyes--
          ever,
     ever
again...

  so cool...

'a plain old bottle it seemed,

     'for i could see!
             i could see!
      and then,
      i was afraid
      to close my eyes-
            ever,
         ever
      again...'

too cool!!  i love the positive, hopeful
ending.    ...and a poem about light...
  there's something different from you...

ok...had to come back and give this another
read.  funny how you can read a poem once
and get one meaning from it, and you can
read it later and get something completely
different from it.  the first time i read
this, i didn't really put too much weight
on the title...none actually.    this time
it painted an entirely different picture
for me.    how easy it is to let fear
control our lives...even the fear of fear
itself.  love this poem and it's multiple
  interpretations...lol

  love you,

dg, Great writing. Just keep that bottle handy, better yet, just know the source of your light and never fear, when there is desire for light, you will find, even with your eyes closed, just look to the Word.

This piece so well written! Love, Marcy

TRICKS: yeah, without the title this could mean an entirely different thing than it was meant to..but then, poetry is like that..you get what you want to out of it    glad you liked

MARCY: thanks for your inspirational reply   youre right, even with my eyes closed i can see the light--if i just want to bad enough

hugs, dg

I don't know how you do it love, but whatever it is you've done it again. What an amazing, poem. I don't know Dee I go away for a few days and when I return, I find another of your gems. The way you toss them out is simply fantastic. Anyway another shop full of bouquets should be on there way to you, for this little beauty. Mind you love when you get to heaven, all those other poets will be so frantic with worry knowing that the true poet has arrived, I know you'll be kind to them, because you always are. Take care, Bubbles!

I like it, it sshows postive feelings and a lesson to be learned, for me anyway

There are enough colours in the world,
To paint your own dreams,
You won't get them,
Till you try.

dg, this was a very interesting read. I enjoyed it much. I'm not sure if I got the intended meaning completely... i'm kind of dense that way...

*********
on a side note, I must ask the question..
You don't come across flash lights down there to often eh!
and don't worry you can always replace the batteries if it goes out, so go ahead and close your eye's.....

I know smartass....
