Of Limerick Zoology (or human psychology?)

There once was a bear named Bernard
who imagined it simply too hard
to climb to a hive
and still touch ground alive
so he dined not on honey, but lard.

There once was a leopard named Lynn
whose limbs grew increasingly thin.
Though wise and well versed
this cool cat was yet cursed
For he thought eating meat was a sin.

There once was a turtle named Myrtle
who decided to sport in a girdle
yet concluded her shell
did present such a swell
that this task was too high of a hurdle.

There once was a python named Pete
whose undoing was junkfood to eat.
Like an imprudent snake
his most tragic mistake
was misjudging his tush for a treat.

There once was a skunk named Renee
who frolicked one picturesque day
with her spirits so high
that she couldn't smell why
that no critters would join'er to play.

There once was a kitty named Trish
with a sole and delictable wish
just to once tongue a trout
and to bury her snout
in cuisine never stamped "Artifish".

There once was a Zebra named Zach
who was shamed at the thought of his back.
And he groaned many gripes
for some ants jeered his stripes
should be all shades of green and not black.

Thank you all poets for sharing
these snippet replies of your caring.
It's no mystery
that you all must like me
or else I have sniffed a red herring!

Thanks for your replies.
I love a little limerick humor (clean of course) please feel free to reply in limerick fashion if you dare... It could be a little fun doncha think?

There once was a girl named Denise
Who attempted to read 'War and Peace'
She got to page four
Threw the book out the door
Then her brain found at last sweet release.

Is this a limerick?

dsnyder,

Yes! it is splendid and fair
this limerick jingle you share.
Though many are written,
quite few leave me smitten.
Yet yours vaunts a definite flair!

Def... Limerick (LYM uh rik) -  a five line poem written in anpestic rhythm,
with lines 1,2, and 5 containing three main stresses and end-rhymes
with lines 3 and 4 containing two main stresses and end-rhymes.

Yet Limericks none comprehend
from textbooks our teachers might lend.
Like hurricane breezes
or head splitting sneezes
You'll understand best blowing wind!

A talented rhyming Stephanos
Got tired of playing pianos,
So he went to the zoo,
For inspiration new,
Now his limericks, everyone knows!

Great Fun! Thanks for sharing!

Cool! I wrote a limerick! I didn't think I'd be able to since my brain is usually stuck in iambic mode!
