I am who I am
don't ask me to change.
I believe in everything
but yet follow nothing.

Creatures abound
around me,
giving me sight
and inspiration.

I am who I am
don't tell me who to be.
I won't conform
or don't you see.

I can only be
what I feel inside.
I only know
what I see.

I try to learn
all I can.
I only wish
to be a proud young man.

Wanting and hoping
for the world
to see,
I am no one else
but me...........

Individuality....VERY important to the soul. Don't change, and keep up the good work. I liked the form of this one, just curious to ask, but why only rhyme a few stanzas? Anyhow, great read looking forward to more.

I really liked this poem. I always wanted to write one and quote Popeye as my title-"I yam who I yam" Silliness aside, why do other people want us to change? Don't know, but I really like the way you said it all.

thanks for the comments. I hope this one shows how I feel about conformity. I feel that no one should have to change for anyone.
