This is about a woman who
constantly reminded me
of the bending tree.
So strong, resilient
and always sound.
Her story is something
like the tree’s silent song.

Through sleet, snow
pelting rain.
Playful moving earth
shifts and sways the roots.
Rhythmically leaves rustle
in gentle breeze.

In the caress of spring
This blessed tree remains.
Slowly the leaves begin
to stretch with laziness.
Bark begins to breathe.

Like the strength of the tree.
Steadfast she stands, solidly.
She is nature in motion, words
and song.
And with it’s beautiful grace
she’ll always stand strong.

Like the tree along the river
caught in a flash flood.
The muddied ground
slippery, yet somehow sound.

Now the truth to this fable
is really about me.
Through nature’s adversities;
I always push harder
stand taller, still.
No boulders will push me over
I’ve regained my will.

KimW, Loved this poem. The analogy of the strong old tree, firmly rooted on solid ground, flexible, bending, yet standing tall.
I love this strong poem. Looking forward to more.  Blessings, marcy

Dear Kim: What a woman that you know yourself so well!
This analogy is written with beauty and it flows with each word. The grace is there for all of us to weather those storms. You have accepted the gift and the Giver, so you flourish! Ellie

Kim,
I enjoyed this one- the flexiblity of faith, the toughness of conviction, the bark of patience, the sway of Grace-cann all help us be like you at your best as pictured by your tree.  Thank you for sharing this,  David

A delightful piece.  Often I look at huge trees out my window thinking how the storms both clean and strengthen them.

I'd say if only we could weather the storms like a tree. We don't always see it but we do come through it! I love the analogy you used here

Our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.
