Heaven, Sweet Heaven, the Home of the Soul,
What a marvelous place it will be,
I thank GOD for Johns' Revelation,
And sharing this vision with me.

The heavenly home of God is with men,
Among them, ever shall HE live,
They shall be HIS redeemed people,
He's their GOD, all praises to HIM give!

GOD shall wipe away every tear there,
Yes, we know every eye will be dry,
T'will be no more sorrow or pain there,
The redeemed will never more die!

The former things are all passed away,
Behold, HE's made all things new.
These words are so trustworthy,
YES, every word, it is true!

HE, the Alpha and Omega,
Bids all drink freely, those athirst,
From the waters of the Fountain of Life,
Offered by Him, who was the First!

Just LOOK at that Holy City,
Having GOD's rich radiance,
Like jasper, clear as crystal,
What a marvelous inheritance!

That walled City has twelve gates,
Each with a name of an Israel tribe,
Displayed, there upon each gate now,
One name is boldly inscribed!

Twelve foundations has the walls of that City,
Inscribed with each, an Apostles' name,
Each layer is made of precious stones,
No two layers are there the same!

The first layer jasper, the second of sapphire,
The third chalcedony, called agate sometime,
The fourth an emerald, next comes sardonyx,
The sixth is sardis, their value is Prime!

The seventh layer goldstone, the next is of beryl,
The ninth is of topaz, Chryoprase makes layer ten,
The eleventh layer is jacinth, the twelfth amethyst,
Beautiful rainbow colors, each layer did send!

Each gate, from a single pearl was made,
And the streets of the City, pure Gold,
So pure it shines like transparent glass,
Its' Glory can't be fully told!

There's no need for a temple building,
For its' Temple is the Lord GOD and the Lamb,
The redeemed will gladly there worship,
Giving praises to the GREAT I AM!

No need for a light in that City,
Not a sun, nor a full moon bright,
For the Glory of GOD illuminates it,
The City, where cometh no night!

As I think of Johns' wondrous vision,
My soul aches for a dwelling place there,
To live in GOD's glorious presence,
No other blessing could ever compare!

I've oft' been told I can't go alone there,
To that City, when my time here does end,
Let us prepare for that journey together,
As we go to live with JESUS, dear friend!

The text for this poem comes from Revelation chapters 21 & 22.

Excellent verse from Revelations! Glad to see someone do that, not many write on Revelations.  You've done a great job, it really is too much to comprehend for our minds though. But what a place to look forward to, something to hope for!  Very well done!

Dennis,
The Biblical description of heaven which you share with us here, seems to go on and on-  But isn't that also beautifully reflective of Heaven itself, while the good things of earth are for a little while, the beauties, and blessings and gracious provisions of Heaven, because od our Loving & eternal God, go on and on and on.......
ad infinitum.   Thank you for your beautiful
renditon of John's Heavenly vison of Heaven itself.

Thanks for your kind words,
But I think you should know,
Though the ink from my pen,
For this poem did flow,
The Authorship of it,
I must rescind,
For GOD wrote this poem,
I just held the pen.

I cannot take credit for the vivid imagery found in this poem, That is given to us directly from scripture.  I took the text and applied it to verse.  God wanted us to have a glimpse of this Glorious place and preserved it for us in His Word. Check it out for your self (Revelation chapters 21 & 22). To GOD be the Glory!  Dennis :^)

Dennis,
I just love it! God gives us many descriptive scenes throughout the Bible, this being one of them; How could we possible not want to be a part of something
as beautiful as heaven as
you have so eloquently captured this scene with words. Bless you Dennis. I also liked the poetic lines you penned here:

For this poem did flow,
The Authorship of it,
I must rescind,
For GOD wrote this poem,
I just held the pen.

Thank for sharing; God Bless, Marcy

This is awesome, Dennis.  I like what David said about the wonders of heaven just going on and on and on.  You did a top notch job putting this in the eloquent verse style so befitting.  Thank you.
