As the mighty oak stands proud and tall,
so, too, this soul that's grown in truth.
As the tree began a seedling, nourished
                by the earth.
This soul began a pure and virgin child,
        untouched by human wounds.

The sapling, in its first years,
            was green and young.
So, the soul remained youthful and innocent.

Even though storms must come with raging winds,
            to knarl and ravage,
the oak grew in beauty, deeply rooted, as she was
one with nature and the earth.
[Many years would pass, before the soul would
            embrace this truth].
Touched also, was the soul by the storms and furies
           of those who tended it.
They loved not as nature loves its own.
But with distorted souls and sick minds.
The soul grew in this disease and was sickened.
But He who gives life to all things,
gave the gift of Faith to the soul, that It
                 would not die.

As the oak tree grew through all the seasons,
                so the soul grew.
The seasons of the years had their way with
                    the tree.
Winter blew her winds to disrobe her.
Stripping all her green life, or so it seemed.
Also, the soul, in darkest hour, was disrobed,
     of all her earthly attachments.
And, therefore, appeared, as the tree to be
             devoid of all life.
Unseen to the eye, the great wonder,
He who loves all, was bestowing upon tree
                 and soul.
For through the dark, seemingly dead winter,
and darkest hour of soul, He nourished both
            with earth and Grace.

Spring came, as it always does,
and roots embedded in soil, as the souls
          were entwined in Faith,
brought forth buds and new life.
So then, did His Grace bring forth courage
            and hope to the soul.

Summer clothed both tree and soul
            in all their beauty.
         Oak stood proud in glory,
and soul began to see her gifts,
          and blossom in His Love!

This was Magnificant! I love the way you use the tree. God can do all things!

Bravo, Ellie, you share with us another masterpiece of analogy, and bring out deep spiritual truths in the process.  Understandably, because this is deeper than some poems we see, it may not be appreciated by all.  But if it is meditated on, the truth will be instilled and planted in the minds& hearts of many.  Keep up your Lovely Labors of Love,  David

Man Geo is absolutely right - your writing really impacts me!  I love your analogy of the oak tree - such strong, deeply rooted trees.  A book me and Kamla analysed for a paper we did at university last year used a similar comparison... You certainly are a soul deeply rooted in your faith, and your writing builds others up - keep up the good work! (i sound like a primary school teacher - hehe now all i need is a stamp!)
