Life was getting darker
It was getting hard to breathe
So the good Lord came and said
"My child, it’s time to leave"

He left this world of sorrow and pain
He loved us, but he could not stay
He went on to a better place
On to a brighter day

He went to his Heavenly home
And was crowned with many crowns
He was with those who came before
There were smiles and hugs all around

He had served the Lord well
And all that love him know
That he is in a better place
But we’re still sad he had to go

A brigher day than we can know
Us, the inhabitants of Earth
But he's in the wonderful light
He's gone through a rebirth

He'll never work another day
He's in an eternal rest
He won't have to settle for anything
He only has the best

He is listening to the angel's sing
And he joins in their song
His voice fits right in
As he sings along

He'll worry no more, or have any pain
All he knows is love
And when the stars shine, I think of him
Smiling at me from above

It's been nearly eleven years
Since my Paw-Paw went away
There is sadness still, but more joy
Because he’s in a brighter day

It's been a long time since my Grandfather passed away, but I still think about him.

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."

what a buetiful ray of hope.  I loved this, it is so sad to lose someone but once you are walking with the lord things can be seen in a new, brighter way. GOD BLESS!

Such a nice tribute to PawPaw!  Yes, knowing our Lord makes a tremendous difference in how we look at things, and isn"t it great to know about that better place?  Just think one day we'll all meet there.

What a tribute! Yes, to be at rest from the wiles of the world. It is a much better place to be!

A cheerfully sad piece. A wonderful reminder of the hope we have.

Your poem really touched me. My father died almost three years ago, and I am still sad about it. My only consolation is that he is now in heaven and is waiting for me to join him. Thank you so much for having the courage to write such a beautiful piece.
