GOD KNOWS WHEN

Lord of the universe, You've let us probe
the cold, dark secrets of the deepest seas,
the hellish fires that in volcanoes rage,
the fearsome voids of outer space, and even
the awesome power that spurs the birth of light...
O Lord, our God, how great Thou art!

You've taught our hearts to recognize
the miracles that fill our lives with joy:
the fragrant beauty of a flower,
a singing bird's sweet song,
a newborn baby's hungry cry,
the tender and most sacred mystery of life...

Still, You have left one craving unfulfilled,
one gift withheld, the one for which
our hearts will always yearn:
to know the blessed hour of Christ's return...
But, mercifully, You gave each of us
a flame of faith to kindle, and to light our way,
until the day and hour You will divulge
Your flawless Masterplan!

And then our eyes, no longer blind, shall see,
our minds, unshackled, comprehend,
our entire being reflect Your beauty, Lord,
in all its glorious, infinite dimensions!

This poem is majestic, willem. That,s the best word I could come up with to describe how your poem affected me. I always think the second coming is when we finally see Him face to face at our death. But, He is a God of surprises!

Willem..this is an amazing poem...we live in the light.Take Care Janet Marie

Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-
remain the most beautiful words ever heard.

Such passion and longing in your work.
I can almost feel your longing for the
second coming.  Magnificent!

WOW Willem! What a piece of work! No one knows the exact hour, but he did give us signs to go by! His master plan is already laid out in His wonderful book of the Bible.
"Behold, for I have foretold you all things."

definitely wow!  What an amazing poem... i really liked this!  It's so cool how God knows everything, yet only lets us know what we need to know, and when we need to know it.  By us not knowing the exact hour, we will not despair, saying "it's so long, i can't keep going for another ..... years!", and will keep going with the fire he rekindles, pressing into Him until He does come.  I love the fact that everything is in His hands, and all we have to do is trust Him and let Him guide us til the very end.  I find such peace in that... thanks Willem for sharing that - it's made me go off in a tangent but it's all good.  Bless you.
