I'm in the state of mind,
on the very verge in fact,
of beginning to possibly
     consider,
that it just might be
a very excellent decision,
to stop taking myself
     so seriously.
Just for this little fraction
     of a second,
to sort of, maybe,
     laugh at myself.
Whimsically, magically,
     serendipitously,
to view all as ever so slightly
     absurd.
There is a very fine gossamer
     veil,
between the somber and the macabre,
and the rediculously sillier
     side of life.
Then it occurs to me to ask,
what could that veil be made of?
What is it that obscures my vision,
And keeps me from clearly seeing
     the absurdity of life?
That realy comes right down to,
downright acceptance of my own
really ever so human humanity.
So, after searching for this
     answer,
     very diligently,
it occurs to me that,
this very fine stuff, that I need
     to pass through,
to clearly see my own
     wondrous imperfection,
magically only needed to be
     named.
And there before my eyes, clearly,
     the answer.

Ellie,
I absolutly LOVE this poem. It is so sweet and honest with you emotions. I know sometimes we all need to be able to just step back and look at our selves and smile.
I have found in the MANY times I have fallen on my face...If could get up and laugh at my self...it helped me to be able to learn from my mistakes and move on. Self forgiveness is something we have to give ourselves..the way we so often easily give it to others.
Take care, Janet Marie

Ellie,
I guess we all go through times of reposturing, re-evaluating, re-adjusting, and
Sometimes in retrospect we can laugh at ourselves and grasp how silly we have been at times,  especially when we have been too serious about things, and the joke is on us.  I can most definitely relate & agree. And you expressed it so well in this poem.

Yep I agree with the others! This was kind of a deep thought! I think we tend not forgive ourselves very easily. It was once said, and I don't think I'll ever forget it...if you ask forgiveness and Christ can forgive you, then you better forgive yourself. They put like this...you beat yourself up over mistakes, and what makes you think your perfect enough not to make them?  That really made me stop and think, because we kick ourselves over and over about something...after all we are human, and we will fall short. To look at that, and be able to laugh at it once in a while, is a good thing!
