In a moment of weakness
I slipped out of my mind
I could not speak a word
and my eyes became blind.

With discomfort I knew
the walls that make up my cage
for I am the one who built them
from anger, from rage.

I trembled in the darkness
afraid of what I might hear
I knew the beast was out there
I could sense him drawing near.

I felt the heat of his acrid breath
hot upon my skin
a repentant tear ran down my cheek
it was I who let him in.

With no apparent way to defend myself
I sat in silence waiting for the end
and my thoughts turned to Jesus
my one and only friend.

And Jesus then came to me
and chased the darkness away
I wanted so badly to tell him how I felt
but there were no words to say.

Now the tyrant that once stalked me
scrambles for a place to hide
no longer will I be tormented
with jesus by my side.

He has given me His love and my freedom
and of His presence I am always aware
he has shown me how to rise above
with tender and nurturing care.

His light shines with such brilliance
and never can t grow dim
and on my dying day
my only hope is that I can spend eternity with Him!

Just be glad I'm not your child! *evil grin*

Echo,   You've posted another lovely poem here, which continues to perpetuate your positive & overcoming attitude.  That really becomes you!!!  God bless you,  David

Dear Echo; I loved your poem. It's so true that the monsters just get bigger unless Jesus comes and takes them away. Thank you.

Melanie this brought tears to my eyes too - to see what God has done for you, it's so true that He works best in our weaknesses, when we turn to Him He'll pull us out and put us on top again - you are more than an overcomer, you have the victory in Christ Jesus, and Amen to that!  No devil or demon can argue with the cross, and indeed they scamber and hide when Jesus comes along in all his glory and victory.  Praise God but i also send out a huge hug - i'm so proud of you for pressing in there and i'm so glad to be reading your poetry again - it's so good!!!   thanks for sharing, i loved it.

Melanie,  after all the good things the others have said about this poem, I really don't know what else to say to express my admiration of it, AND of the spirit it shows so clearly. I do know, however, the same kind
of feelings in my confrontations with the Evil One, in dreams as well as in daily life (figuratively speaking).  God bless you and give you strength, Melanie.

Dear Echo, I am new to this forum, but I must say, I agree with your friends on this.
Praise God that you have Jesus in you to keep the demons running and bring you peace.
Bless you, your writing is wonderful.
