See, my clothes are old and tattered
And no soles have known these feet
And my soul is bruised and battered
All I've ever known's defeat.

And I've always been the black-sheep
True and yet I don't know why
And my heart lives on the ash heap
No, it never learned to fly.

Yes, I've always been the odd one
Never seeming to fit in
All I've ever known's rejection
Sore dejection deep within.

I am but a lowly beggar
No, there's nothing that I own
I've got not a thing to offer
As I stand before Your throne.

"Enter now into My mansion
All I have is yours and free
No, you don't need class or fortune
You're the perfect one for me.

It's but beggars that can hear Me
For though all may come within
None but beggars know they need Me
It's but beggars enter in.

Enter now unto My banquet
Yes, I know you'll fit right in
And the tables have been all set
For the feasting to begin.

See, you don't need class or fortune
When you come don't bring a thing
Enter all into My mansion
Come and dine beside your King."

Denise,
You've really done it this time-the rhyme, the meter, the message, the flow--you got it all right--it's a wonderful & inspiring read.

Wonderful job, Denise. One of my favorite topics...feasting with the Lord. Very well written, indeed.

Denise...I started reading and wanted to cry then my spirits were lifted when you so wonderfully put how Jesus loves all all, no matter what we have gone through, look like, etc. We dont need to have all the class and fortune as you said to enter Heaven's Gates...all we must do is love and believe in Jesus Christ. We can have all the money on earth and still not be happy if we do not know Jesus Christ...and even so when we die, we can not bring that fortune with us to Heaven anyways! This is a great poem and it definitely did flow nicely as well! Grat job!

dsnyder -

great poem, though I have to say that the third stanza didn't quite click. perhaps the meter is off or something. not sure.

Thanks, James, I'm glad you liked it! I don't know either, I can't always hear the meter. It's seems to flow like the rest to me! But I'll keep going over it to see if I can figure it out!
