Here, Now, Forever

Nightingale view, moonlit freezing treetops,
Within myself, the bitter cold refuses to cease.
The angels of fire give up and decist,
I heard them trying, by God I did...
I wanted to reach out and grip thier labored hands..
In a prison with no walls,
Beyond any possible effort to escape from,
Nowhere to go, nowhere to escape to,
Isolated from the world I yearn for,
I suppose I will still survive,
Godamn this cruel and haphazard existence!
There is nothing to exist for,
Only the pain of wanting, as my eternal companion,
Only the pain of missing out on what could have been
These are not my true friends,
Just plastic faces to entertain,
Plastic replies, plastic gestures,
Shallow, languid emotions.
This world is a superficial nightmare,
My very feelings are nothing but chew toys.
All of my aspirations and hopes are swallowed up into these crestfallen eyes, staring down at this tunnel of life,
The tracks are vibrating,
It is terribly cold in here, but too dark to see my breath. Is that a light at the end of this tunnel?
That light...that light is merely a charging train.
Either way, it seems I will be destroyed.
I could charge the train head on, or run from it.
Whichever path I choose, my bones will crunch under that relentless steel.
Nightingale view, moonlit freezing treetops,
Rotting flesh, gentle and soft,
Concealing dirt made fertile,
A tell tale memory grinding through every tangible fabric of my soul,
Within myself, the bitter cold refuses to cease.
I AM CONTROLLED BY MYSELF, AND I AM MY OWN WORST ENEMY,
The angels of fire give up and decist,
I heard them trying, by God I did...
I wanted to reach out and grip thier labored hands..
AND ONE DAY I'M GOING TO LOSE THIS WAR...

LOVE IS GOD, LOVE IS WAR, LOVE IS WHAT YOUR LIFE IS FOR.

I liked the darkness of your poem.  I felt the freezing cold, the blinding light at the end of the tunnel, and the grinding steel of the train.  You've done well with your imagery here.  Jesus, I believe faced the same darkness while He layed in that cave... but He raised to a different Light... The same Light that we need to run to in our times of darkness.  God Bless You,  Bob <><

I pray these well penned thoughts aren't your true heart feelings as I read the lines of hopelessness.  The "plastic" you speak of may only be the perspective from which it's seen, not the reality of the true caring hearts.  Perhaps the light seen in the tunnel is that of Jesus while perceived as a threatening train.  God bless you.   Rae

This is dark and border suicidal. I contemplate moving this to dark, but for reasons unknown to me I will leave it here.

There is reason for us to be here, reason for life. That reason is to live and do for God, and not for ourselves.
I truly hope the light at the end of that tunnel will be Jesus (by choice) and not destruction in something He worked so hard to create.

We all have hard times, depressing times, there's no doubt about that. But God carries us through those times, if are but willing to let Him.

May you find peace.

Thank you all for the posts. I dont now if you've noticed, but you've all pretty much hit the nail right on the head with this one. Fortunately, this poem does not reflect my own feelings, but that of a present tortured soul, unfit for heaven.

LOVE IS GOD, LOVE IS WAR, LOVE IS WHAT YOUR LIFE IS FOR.

Eagle, I'm glad this doesn't reflect your own feelings. I know we're all unworthy, but the wonderful thing is God loves anyhow. Whom ever this tortured soul is, I hope they'll reach out to Jesus.
For He gave us power over our enemies, if we have but the faith to use that power.

If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know. Until then NEVER under estimate the power of PRAYER!

God bless!
