A star is shining bright
On this the holiest of nights
Its light dances on the snow
Here on earth far below

It was the same way
On that first Christmas day
When the Christ child was born
In the hours of that blessed morn

He was swaddled in love
Sent from heaven above
The child was so pure
His purpose here was sure

To die on the cross
Suffering the ultimate loss
Paying for our many sins
So our life anew can begin

Through Him alone eternal life
Free from everyday toil and strife
Is granted to you and me
Forever this way it shall always be

Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats

I like the way you have put together the birth & death-capturing the very purpose of His coming, and the blessing of it too. Thank you for this good read.  David

Beautiful! Poetic glory to the true meaning of the season! Ellie

wow..this is so beautiful!  On Christmas Eve, I happened to look out my bedroom window, and I saw in the sky a single star, and it filled me with His presence.  You truely captured this!  Have a wonderful holiday!

You have expressed the most perfect gift in the form of a babe swaddled in Love to take away the sins of a fallen world.  Thank you for this precious Chrismas reminder of why our savior was born.  Love in Christ, Bob <><
