Listening to every heart

What is Heard Best

The new babe fretted and simpered,
then fussed and began to wail and cry
the new mother became distraught
and tried to sing a sweet lullaby

But Grandpa he came right in
and with gentle ease took the child
whispered softly in babe's ear
and the crying became a cooing mild

~*~*~*~

the football hero loudly proclaimed
"here comes my girl, she'll carry my name!"
and while she smiled to many cheers
she didn't want to be the prize of a game

but when a young man smiled at her,
in soft conversation spoke awhile, then he
whispered softly in her young ear
and down the marriage aisle went they

~*~*~*~

the minister was young and brash
he felt he had the righteous fire
preaching was his calling sure
and he'd bellow loud to inspire

the old woman turned down her hearing aid
but sang all the words of the hymn
whispered softly within her heart
and thus had the full attention of Him.

~*~*~*~

and the Angels came to the Virgin bride
came and hovered by her side
whispered softly "Jesus is his name today"
and softly now to Jesus we pray

although we may raise our voice in song
Jesus hears heart-whispers all along

This is a beautiful poem of contrasts, Karilea-which makes quite a bold clear statement.  And this is a good point you are making here, unlike the thinking and ways of man, we don't have to shout to get God's attention- we already have that whether we want it or not-- but if we want His audience-the only true connection we can make is heart to heart.  A lesson we do will in our relations with others as well.  Well done!!!

This is so beautiful and true.  Sometimes soft-spokeness (lol is that a word?!) is the best way to reach Jesus.  You are an amazing poet!  Merry Christmas!

In this world there are so many voices and none of them are without significance....  This poem reminds me of when Elijah headed up the mountain after listening to the wrong voices in his life...  While he hid in the crevices, a strong wind tried to get his attention, then a fire, and even an earthquake.... but, finally God spoke to him in a small still voice.   God Bless You, Bob <><
