They’re not much to look at
Plain gray stones the size of dimes
But the symbol they represent
Is a symbol for all times.

Two little stones, pebbles really
From the wall as it fell that day
Berlin’s liberty won so fiercely
Just ten years ago today

Freedom vibrates from the rocks
As I hold them in my hand
Now, perhaps the world will know
Freedom throughout the land

In honor of the day, ten years ago today that the Berlin wall fell. I collect rocks and a friend gave me some pebbles from the Berlin wall..chipped off that night as freedom was won. I treasure them as I treasure my freedom.

here's a big yahoo for freedom!

I sing my tearful song which has charms only for me."

Yes it does! Great poem PdV! Maybe you could have this printed and mounted with these little rocks as a keepsake! That would be awesome!

Thank you all for your comments. I have rocks from Red Square in Moscow, from the land of the Brothers Grimm, from in front of the ovens at Dachau, from the Vatican, from near the leaning tower of Pisa, from the Colosseum in Rome, from the garden of Buckingham Palace, from the yard of the Tower of London and from a street in Amsterdam. Though I've not been to all these places, I feel as though I've touched history. Imagine the feet that walked on these stones...Jews walking to their death, a Pope, a Queen..... No souvenir hold so meaning as my little rock collection!

Amen, PdV...I could feel the power radiating off those rocks all the way over here in reading this.

"Plain gray stones...". Think not. Thank you very much for sharing this. I am certainly glad there are no stones between me and this site.

PvD,
Did you know that every rock is an altar.
Wonderful tribute.
