Changing - Rearranging
~Marge Tindal~ 1999

When we met you shared, with praise,
all the things you liked about me.
I was just who I was,
no one else I wanted to be.

Through the years you tried
to make me into someone new.
Always wanting me to change
the very things I knew.

One day I looked in the mirror,
not sure of who I'd see.
I don't believe I know myself.
I don't see a resemblance to me.

The day you said you were leaving,
stunned, I asked you, Why?
You said I wasn't the girl you fell in love with ...
I had changed ... Oh, my !

Changed? Changed?
My whole life you rearranged.
Now ... just when I thought I suited you,
you've decided to move the furniture again !

it was beautifully written

Very nicely expressed.......I can see this looming in the near future for a couple of my friends that are dating......

Thinking is just what a great many people think they are doing when they are merely rearranging their predjudices.

Ah...change, sometimes I love that word, sometimes I hate it but it always seems to be there, doesn't it? The furniture's alway moving around me and I keep tripping in the dark...good poem marge, love the ending.

Wonderful - and very insightful. The desire to change another is one of the true enemies in a relationship.

So many times the things people admire about us are the things they want to change after they have us. I agree, Marge. It's a BUMMER.

StarFairy2-Thank you.
SD-Call the moving van.
Hoot-Iloveit-RS-Martie-Sounds like you are all related!
Michael-I can see 'tripping over the furniture.'
Elizabeth-Thanks, I consider that a personal compliment. I don't have to live it to write it...and maybe it helps someone else.
Severn-Relationships should be worked and then re-worked. Takes two to move furniture.
Balladeer-Oh, my friend, right ... it's a bummer to set about to change the very things that drew you to a person to begin with.
*THANKS TO YOU ALL.
